Optimistic updates are amazing at making an app feel snappy, but at the same time, I feel I'm writing a bunch of imperative glue I wish I didn't have to 💭

Reminiscent of the tedium of manually writing DOM manipulations to optimize syncing client state to DOM in the Backbone days (since render by default threw away the node tree and recreated everything). What might be the next step?

From the delta variant to accelerating climate change, the challenges keep coming in 2021. The last thing we need now is a more conservative parliament. You can check VoteWell.ca before you vote to see if a strategic vote is necessary in your riding. #cdnpoli

I'm so incredibly excited about this –– it's the culmination of more than a year of work on Studio's Explorer and Schema Documentation tools. This is some really amazing work from @CheapSteak @ndintenfass @jglovier @jephuff & the rest of the team. sandbox.apollo.dev
Meet Apollo Sandbox, your new favorite tool for local #GraphQL development. Sandbox is our new open GraphQL IDE with one-click query building, intelligent field and path search, integrated #schema docs, and more. We can’t wait to see what you’ll build! bit.ly/2RX8Tzn

PSA from my own mistake - try to avoid using the words "this"/"that" in comments Code shifts, at some point it might no longer be obvious what they refer to

"Ported" npmcharts to @observablehq observablehq.com/@cheapsteak… (or a piece of it anyway) Might not have bothered to make a site if this was available at then. The feedback loop from notebooks is terrific

Having the code right there makes mucking about with the data much ~easier~ possible. You can fork the notebook and do whatever to the data. Don't need to worry about how to expose things via UI. e.g. - adding together apollo-client and @apollo/client -- observablehq.com/@cheapsteak…

Walking around the Kipling and Queen area. Wonder why there's not more density here? Single floor commercial buildings, parking lot for storage trucks, self storage

Pro-tip: use emojis in your console print statements to quickly add context and identify the entries you care about, during development.

Was helping a friend clean up their commits to make their PR easier to review; Generated some demo gifs that I might as well share; Part 1/5? -- committing changes in the same file separately

5/5 -- need to change the order of commits? drag and drop; Change your mind? CMD+Z to undo

keeping commits digestible for reviewers should be the easy thing to do that also happens to be the right thing, not the chore that requires determination, willpower, and hours of memorization and practice. not sponsored in any way by @gittower
