Ahanor is still developing and not close to a finished product. With his skillset, he will be fine when fully developed.
Plus, transitioning from Serie A to the Premier League for a young lad like him isn't easy. It is just too early to judge him.

The so-called overthinking is part of the process. How would he solve problems if he doesn't try things?
When he understands the squad and they understand his demands and do it well, the overthinking will decrease.
For now, let my manager do what he wants.
š§ Xabi Alonso is a world-class coach. But right now, his tactical overthinking is the last thing Chelsea need.
āļø Alex Keble
š° The billions spent on youth, the constant churn for accountancy tricks, the bottom-half finishes: Chelsea remain engulfed in an identity crisis of their own making. What this squad needs isnāt complexityāitās stability, order, and calm.
šØāš« The ownersā decision to appoint Alonso as āmanagerā rather than āhead coachāāand to finally allow over-30s into the buildingāsuggested lessons had been learned from four years of move-fast-and-break-things chaos.
š„“ Yet judging by the instability of Alonsoās setups this season, the mess is only being compounded.
In nine Premier League matches, Alonso has already fielded:
āŖļø 6 different combinations in defence
āŖļø 5 different combinations in central midfield
š« From trialling a HendersonāBarco pivot at Brentford to an ill-fated strikerless 4-4-2 against Tottenham, Chelsea keep making life unnecessarily difficult for themselves.
š¤·āāļø Against Manchester United on Saturday, that overthinking resurfaced. Chelsea were a shambles in the first half largely due to a bizarre role for Cole Palmer that scrambled brains across the pitch.
šµāš« By dropping Palmer into a flat line across midfield, Chelsea stripped away all forward verticality. With passing lanes choked, they coughed up cheap turnovers, sparking chaotic, end-to-end transitions.
š¹ļø Once Alonso corrected the error at half-timeārestoring a conventional 4-2-3-1 and pushing Palmer higher between the linesāChelsea took control. United couldnāt live with the central passes, and Palmerās advanced presence directly opened up space for Morgan Rogersā opener.
šŖļø The takeaway for Alonso is glaring: this young squad, still recovering from the tornado of recent seasons, doesn't need galaxy-brain setups. They need consistent selection, simple automatisms, and the breathing room to function like a normal football club.
š¶š» Before they can run, Chelsea need to be taught how to walk.

He said that Enzo Fernandez unbalances their midfield.
Where did I hear that before?
Solve one problem at a time. Don't solve one and create two more.
Cherki, Bouaddi and Anderson works really well from a technical-tactical standpoint, and I've been saying it since our defeat to Villa. Bouaddi anchors at the base, screening the back line and giving us security in build-up against an aggressive press. Anderson connects the phases, carries, and arrives late in the box. And with Cherki, you get creation from every front: from the wide men isolating 1v1, and from him receiving between the lines, turning, and threading passes into the half-spaces.
Starting Enzo F instead shifts the entire creative burden onto the wide men, who then get doubled and tripled, and it heaps extra workload onto Bouaddi & Anderson OOP, because Enzo doesn't screen, doesn't counter-press with any intensity and leaves gaps in our rest defence.
Keep Enzo F on the bench. Bring him on for Cherki when things aren't happening and you need fresh legs or a different rhythm. That's balance. Yeah, thatās solving problems, not creating them.

Unfortunately, Chelsea doesnāt do refunds.
Enzo FernƔndez has been poor for three games in a row, yet keeps his place in the starting XI!
Cherki or Foden should be starting ahead of him on current form.
Maresca needs to stop playing favourites. Nobody should be guaranteed a starting spot at #ManCity!

āļø I really don't want to analyse much or try to convince people about Xabi Alonso because they will never get it as long as the results aren't favourable.
But personally, I have zero doubt about our future under Xabi Alonso as long as we don't panic. This is the time to close my eyes and believe in the project.
I keep asking myself why fans lose it after every defeat. Of course it hurts, but are we expecting to hire Guardiola as manager and expect him never to be beaten? Do you remember that Guardiola lost 4-2 to Leicester, 4-0 to Everton in his first season in the Premier League? We even beat him 3-1 at the Etihad and 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.
Why do we overreact without context? My answer is that it's because fans never prepare themselves for any defeat. They believe they will win every game. They live in that fantasy world that they turn up and win every game.
Then, there is a set of fans that will tell you that Alonso is clueless and want him gone. Really? Is there anyone better out there that will come and never lose a game?
Can't we calm down for once and believe in what we are doing. The project is now as clear as day. We now have experienced players, hired a top coach and had an encouraging summer. Another one or two windows of that level and set are really set.
So, what's the fuss all about? Just calm down, we will be fine. No need to panic.
