Man is a microcosm, or a little world, because he is an extract from all the stars & planets of the whole firmament, from the Earth & the elements;& so he is their quintessence
Though free to think & act, we are held together, like the stars in the firmament, with ties inseparable

Betelgeuse is fading again, and the most famous red star in the sky is starting to feel like a countdown.
It’s been dimming since August. Again. That word matters, because this star already pulled the same trick back in late 2019, when it dropped so hard that people genuinely started watching for an explosion.
Here’s the part that gets me. When Betelgeuse finally goes supernova, nobody will need a telescope or a live feed to catch it. The blast will be visible from right here on Earth, with your own eyes.
Step outside and find Orion. That red glow in the top left corner?
It’s living on borrowed time.

When the Oxford children's dictionary discarded dozens of nature-words—"dandelion," "fern," "starling"—as irrelevant to children's imagination and replaced them with words like "broadband" and "cut-and-paste," this inspired act of resistance was born: themarginalian.org/2019/06/1…

25 October 1400. Geoffrey Chaucer, author of The Canterbury Tales, died (aged 56 or 57). He’s been called the “Father of English literature”. He’s buried in Poets’ Corner in Westminster Abbey next to the memorial statue of William Shakespeare.

The Moon's the North Wind's cooky.
He bites it, day by day,
Until there's but a rim of scraps
That crumble all away.
The South Wind is a baker.
He kneads clouds in his den,
And bakes a crisp new moon that . . . greedy North Wind . . . eats . . . again!
