Anymore mining will leave little habitat left intact in Treaty #3 to exercise Treaty Rights. Climate change, flooding, winds, forestfires and heatwaves threaten us, animals + fish. We can preserve the forest + waters now. Over centuries its value will be limitless for next gens.
My biggest regret is working for the oil industry. I was an addict. I sold out my teachings and values for money so I could drink every day. The resource industry must end. Including mining. It's destroying lands, waters + increasing the climate crisis. We can be sustainable.

Abolish the Indian Act. We have nothing to lose but our chains. We will, of course, need new legislation that is an interface between the Federal government and First Nations. And this MUST be created alongside Chiefs and First Nation governments every step of the way. But it is time to move past the era of this outdated, racist, and patriarchal legislation. I support Prime Minister Carney’s work to position Canada as a global leader in human rights and democracy. The Indian Act is inconsistent with achieving that vision. Our laws at home should reflect the values we champion around the world. It’s time for a relationship with First Nations people that reflects who we are as Canadians today, recognizes nationhood, and lives up to the true nature of reconciliation.

But it ended with calls from Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew to abolish the controversial Indian Act, and agreement from Carney something must be done about the legislation from 1876 that governs First Nations. Carney said he is “very open” to abolishing it. ca.news.yahoo.com/carney-pre…

This is Nisga’a nation and i want you to hear the difference when she takes questions Nisga’a has the first modern treaty in BC, which excludes them from the Indian act She explains why she supports Prime Minister Carney, and fast tracking major projects This is a nation that my own nation, Tahltan, have partnered with to open a port in the north for mineral exports. Yes, a 100% indigenous owned Port in to Asia This is what a progressive nation is like, and this is why it’s important for Canadians to know not every single First Nation in BC is represented by AFN

I want to thank the Premiers for being united in their perspective to hold this meeting. This gathering cannot be a one and done. We need a committed table for discussion between First Ministers and First Nations.
