In a blessing scam, a stranger approaches a victim and claims that bad luck or illness will affect them or a loved one unless their valuables, such as cash or jewelry, are blessed. The items are placed in a bag, and the victim is told not to open it for several weeks. When they finally do, they discover their valuables have been replaced with worthless items. Older Chinese women are often targeted due to cultural beliefs and traditions. Help protect your loved ones by sharing this information and encouraging them to stay aware of their surroundings.
