The Republican Party in America today does not believe in citizens' self-determination, or government by consent of the governed. They do not believe in democracy. They believe in *their* rule, by any means necessary, regardless of the will of the people. Never forget this.

@planet4589 Jonathan I just signed on to Twitter (or whatever this thing is called) for the first time in 5 months specifically to ask you this:

Is it possible, with (fairly) precise time, date, location, inclination and declination info to know if there was a train of Starlink satellites in a particular spot in the sky? I just saw something very odd and the only explanation I can come up with is Starlinks.

Well folks, this is the end. There's not much point in being here any more. Many of my favorite people have left, and the ones who haven't are being drowned by the algorithm that prioritizes trash. To the few friends who might still see this: It's been a privilege knowing you.

I think a lot of people are just jealous of Elon Musk because he’s on track to become a millionaire and they’re not.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but playing music on a speaker in any enclosed public space (say, a train) is a dick move. Doing it in the *quiet car* of the train? You’re going directly to the deepest circle of hell.

Cool, Dan Snyder will finally be out of the American public sphere. Now, can we change the name again to a name that doesn't suck?

Now this is a level of lighting geekery that I appreciate: Detailed spectral breakdowns comparing the light on a nanometer to nanometer basis to Planck (sunlight), tungsten, etc. Bravo @MattAllardACS. Bravo.

This is a fantastic deep dive (written to be digestible by a lay audience) about the interstellar visitor ‘Oumuamua (“Is it aliens? Or just a rock? But, it accelerated!”) specifically, & scientific controversy generally. H/T @planet4589 for the heads up. medium.com/@astrowright/oumu…

Hall of Fame tweet. One of the all-time greats, right up there with Greta Thunberg’s breathtaking murder of Andrew Tate.
I approve this message.

.@GeorgeWill's eternal insistence that the GOP is not, actually, a party of ignorant racist white supremacist fascists, but is always **JUST ABOUT** to turn around and become intelligent, mature, and responsible... ... is aging like roadkill on a hot day.
