Practices are telling us they need more GPs but lack the funding to employ them.
Thank you to the more than 8,000 GPs and GP Registrars who signed our letter to the Health Secretary urging him to make the 10-Year Workforce Plan a genuine roadmap to train, recruit and retain more doctors and restore patient safety.

Children are being exploited in plain sight but often the signs are missed.
Tomorrow at #RCGPAC I’m speaking about how GPs can protect those at risk from County Lines and gangs.
We can make a difference if we know what to look for. #Safeguarding #RCGP

Yesterday, we gave evidence on the Future of General Practice at the Senedd – and our message was clear:
General practice is in crisis – but it is also the key to saving the NHS in Wales.
90% of NHS patient contacts happen in general practice – but we receive a shrinking share of NHS funding.
£1 invested in general practice saves £3 in hospital care.
Without urgent action, we risk collapse, privatisation & widening health inequalities.

We are asking the new Home Secretary @ukhomeoffice to guarantee international newly qualified GPs are able to stay and work in the UK. Approx 1,600 of these will need a visa this year but our survey with @BMA found many are struggling to get one.

The Nation of Sanctuary is about helping people to have the best opportunity to integrate with Welsh society. Part of doing so for some will include having their health concerns & trauma addressed in the community by a GP.

We are looking forward to meeting Senedd members at Y Farchnad. It is going to be hot day, so a perfect moment to pause enjoy some of the fresh fruit on our stand and have a conversation about how a well resourced general practice is good for the patient, the NHS & the taxpayer.

We welcome @WelshGovernment’s important step to make Wales the first Marmot Nation. Tackling health inequalities needs whole-Govt action on housing, education, work & more. GPs see the impact daily & we’re here to help shape a fairer, healthier Wales.
BREAKING: Wales to become FIRST Marmot nation 🙌
This involves adopting public health expert Sir @MichaelMarmot’s eight principles.
By adopting these principles, we’ll be able to support better health and wellbeing for us all.
