Let us continue to pray together for peace. The day after tomorrow, on 27 October, let us join in spirit with the heads of churches and religious leaders who will gather in Assisi to mark the 40th anniversary of the meeting convened by Saint John Paul II. Never before has it been so clear that wars, as well as sowing death and destruction, impoverish and harm the world. May the Lord inspire choices of dialogue and peace! #PrayTogether

Loving God,
We come before you with honest hearts, bringing both our sorrow and hope. You know the struggles we carry and the pain we find hard to put into words.

Pope Leo XIV’s doctors have confirmed that the tumor removed on October 13 was a lung adenocarcinoma and that the disease was localized.
Dr. Luigi Carbone and Professor Stefano Margaritora said on Wednesday evening that a subsequent oncological assessment has confirmed that “no further treatment is necessary.”

God of wisdom,
keep us open
to the guidance
of your Holy Spirit;
give us the gift
of discernment,
that we may be
led by your will
and walk in your way.
Let us honour
what is of you,
leaving aside
what diverts us
from living in
your love,
your grace,
and your peace.

Holy Trinity, God of love,
relationship and community
are at the heart of your being
and at the heart of your call
to us as your disciples.
Fill us with a love for one another
which echoes the love you are,
and brings your grace to bear
on our life together in you.

Christianity began in the Middle East. But how much do we know about the Christians who still live there today?
For nearly 2,000 years, Christian communities have called the region home. Yet today, many are facing war, displacement and persecution in the places where their ancestors lived for generations.
From Syria and Iraq to the Holy Land, some of the world's oldest Christian communities are becoming increasingly vulnerable. What can we do to support them?

“… Francis preached to the birds encouraging them to praise the God who “clothed you in feathers and gave you wings to fly with”. The birds, it is said, showed their pleasure by preening and gazing at Francis with great attention only leaving after he had blessed them.” Read on to hear Andy Braunston on the ecological theology of St Francis.

May we receive, Lord Jesus,
with gratitude and grace,
the blessings you offer us
in the fruits of the earth,
the fruits of community,
the fruit of your Spirit
as you lead and guide us
in your way and in your love;
that our living and loving
may reveal your kingdom.
