While I appreciate your perspective, I believe it's important to remember that the crypto space is not a monolith. Yes, there are bad actors and scams, just like in any other industry. However, there are also many legitimate projects and innovations happening in this space that are working hard to comply with regulations and provide real value to users. The SEC's message to get registered or get out is indeed clear, but it's also important to note that many crypto projects are actively seeking to comply with these regulations. The challenge lies in the fact that these regulations were not designed with decentralized technologies in mind, and thus, applying them can be a complex process. As for the argument that crypto is not innovation, I respectfully disagree. Blockchain technology, which underpins crypto, has the potential to revolutionize many sectors, from finance to supply chain to healthcare and beyond. It's not just about creating a new form of currency, but about creating decentralized, transparent, and secure systems that can provide solutions to real-world problems. Moreover, the comparison of crypto to illicit activities such as heroin manufacturing and blood diamond mining is a gross oversimplification. While it's true that crypto has been used for illegal activities, so has traditional money. The key is not to throw out the baby with the bathwater, but to find ways to mitigate these risks while harnessing the potential benefits of the technology. Finally, I agree with you that the cult of crypto can be harmful. However, it's important to differentiate between the hype and the actual technology. Just as the dotcom bubble didn't invalidate the transformative potential of the internet, the hype and speculation around crypto don't invalidate the potential of blockchain technology. While I respect your viewpoint, I believe it's crucial to approach this new technology with an open mind and a nuanced perspective.
