MOSQUITO PROTECTION: The Florida Department of Health in Seminole County has issued a Mosquito-Borne Illness Advisory following a confirmed locally acquired case of dengue. Residents are encouraged to protect themselves from mosquito bites and help reduce mosquito populations around their homes. Here are five steps you can take: ✔️ Drain Standing Water: Empty flowerpots, buckets, birdbaths, tires, and other outdoor items that collect water. Mosquitoes can breed in very small amounts of standing water. ✔️ Cover Exposed Skin: Wear long-sleeved shirts, long pants, and socks when outdoors. ✔️ Use Insect Repellent: Apply an EPA-registered insect repellent and follow label directions. ✔️ Protect Your Home: Repair damaged window and door screens and keep doors closed when possible. ✔️ Check Your Yard: Regularly check gutters, drains, outdoor equipment, and other areas where water may collect.
