It was great to welcome residents from Wokingham to Parliament earlier this week. A key part of my role as your MP is representing our community in Westminster, and these visits are a great opportunity to show local people how this happens. Thank you to everyone who came along.

I spent Saturday morning at Tesco's in Wokingham speaking with residents about issues affecting the local area, as well as any personal concerns where my team may be able to offer help and support.

Topics discussed included what more can be done to support Ukraine, positive feedback on solar farms, questions about pre-1997 pensions, and the launch of a financial literacy app for children. Thank you to everyone who took the time to come and speak with me.

On Saturday, I attended a Thames Valley Police 'Have Your Say' meeting to discuss a range of local issues, including raising awareness of recent targeted thefts affecting local South Asian communities.

It was a valuable opportunity to hear residents' concerns directly and discuss the next steps that can be taken to support the community and improve local safety

Social care workers need more than promises. With high vacancy rates, @CliveJonesMP is calling for a debate on improving training, professional development and retaining staff across the sector.

.@EdwardJDavey & I have written today to the Prime Minister. We're deeply concerned at the postponement of Palestinian elections. Britain needs to work with both Palestinian & Israeli authorities to ensure these elections take place on 28 November 2026, as originally planned.

Had a great visit to Big Fella Brewing, a craft brewery and taproom opening soon on Lockey Farm. It was great to see the progress being made at their new site, with exciting plans taking shape including the new stage, which will host live music, comedy nights and talks.

@EdwardJDavey is most successful Liberal leader for 100 yrs, he’s continuing to win us elections and most polls show we can win yet more seats from the Conservatives, while they stare into the void, we have our sights on greater victories for our country and our party

NEW: Lib Dem MP Clive Jones says colleagues questioning the future Sir Ed Davey as leader are "wrong" and could create "chaos in the party". The Wokingham MP tells me they'd be "absolutely stupid" to change leader and that Sir Ed's opponents should "forget it". @itvmeridian

Lib Dem MP and DCMS Spokes replies to my tweet about the supportive tweets for Davey today looking coordinated! #LibDems
Replying to @MathewHulbert
Wrong. The vast majority of us are shocked and frankly furious at what has happened and are showing our support.

The LibDems are supposed to be the centrist party - why do they only ever talk about being the "last line of defence" against (right wing) Reform, and never about being the last line of defence against mad-tax Labour and even madder-tax Greens?
We Lib Dems are the last line of defence against a Reform UK govt, and Ed is determined to lead a strong and united party into the next GE whenever it comes. The vast majority of our MPs support Ed, want him to lead the party into the next GE & are furious at this distraction

The Liberal Democrats are the last line that my constituency and this country have against a Reform Government. I stand with my Party and my Leader, who led us to the best ever election result in our party’s history. I fully back him to lead us into the next General Election.

We wouldn’t have had our best ever @LibDems result without Ed and he has always been a supportive (and astute) leader. I’m focusing on delivering for my constituents, holding the Government to account and making sure Reform and the Tories don’t get anywhere near No 10.

New: Tuesday's Lib Dem meeting being billed as a crunch show down by skeptics within Sir Ed Davey's 71-strong parliamentary caucus One MP tells me the party now faces the ‘worst of all worlds – a vote of no confidence, Ed fights it and wins, limping on totally wounded.’ Davey allies claim that it is merely a ‘few MPs’ doing the briefing, with most of the group ‘annoyed’ by it all.

Not a lot surprises me in politics any more but this was a real shock. @EdwardJDavey is the most successful leader electorally in our party's history and has my full support. This move is poorly judged when we should be concentrating on defeating the far right. – at Newhaven, England

Beyond shocked and appalled at this. @EdwardJDavey has my full support and that of the vast majority of MPs. All our focus should be on fighting the populists who are trying to tear our nation apart, rather than trying to tear ourselves apart. – at Richmond, London

As the recess draws to a close, I've been making the most of my time in the constituency over the past few weeks, meeting with local organisations, visiting schools, and hearing from residents across Wokingham. Here's what else I've been up to this week:
