Residents raised concerns with me about fallen leaves yesterday afternoon.
I passed them on to @SalfordCouncil, and the team had cleared them by this morning.
Thanks to the street cleaning team for such a quick response.
Cheltenham Crescent is one of the last remaining green spaces in Broughton Park, and residents are fighting to save it.
I stand firmly with our community in opposing its proposed development. Once our green spaces are gone, they're gone forever.

I suspect the @BeeNetwork driver may not even have realised he was stopping in a yellow box junction outside the Civic Centre, given how badly the markings have faded.
Perhaps @SalfordCouncil could repaint them, and @BeeNetwork could remind drivers not to block junctions in the meantime?
After more than two years of persistence, the alleyway between Bury New Road and Rigby Street finally has proper lighting!
I brought the initiative to the Devolved Highways Task Group, secured the funding, and continued pressing officers to get the work completed.
It's taken far longer than it should have, but I'm delighted to have finally delivered this improvement for local residents.
It’s been a long and frustrating process, but the alleyway is now properly lit, making it safer and more accessible for residents.

Council tax will never be fair, it is a fundamentally unjust system, being made worse every day with significant cuts to council tax reduction schemes and increasing housing wealth inequality
But this will make a huge difference to many people’s lives. Well done @MartinSLewis 👏
When I met Angela Rayner to campaign for change to overly aggressive council tax debt collection, with its unprecedented rapid escalation to balliffs, she nodded like most politicians do.
I explained it was destructive for individuals, councils and the economy. She listened more then said she'd change it. I was sceptical. Yet a consultation was launched within weeks and delightfully the change announced within 18mths (its in place from next April) - bullet train pace for politics.
I've a rule that if I campaign for a politician (of any party) to do something, and they do it, I say thank you. Its important to recognise it. So thank you so much Angela Rayner for listening and more importantly acting. The changes coming are a great start.
Men's Swimming @SalfordLeisure is full again.
@SalfordCouncil I'm still working on getting more sessions, but have made little progress in three years.
I have been promised that changes are underfoot.
As @salford_mayor and I make clear, Salford’s strength lies in standing together. There is no place in our city for hatred, intimidation or violence. We must challenge misinformation, look out for one another and ensure everyone feels safe and welcome.

I unequivocally condemn the appalling attack on the property on Kingsley Avenue last night.
Whatever rumours or concerns may circulate online, there is never any justification for intimidation, criminal damage or violence.
We are living in an increasingly polarised society, where misinformation can spread rapidly and suspicion can too easily be directed at people because of their nationality, ethnicity or perceived immigration status.
Everyone in Kersal and Broughton Park, whatever their background or country of origin, has the right to feel safe in their home and in our community.
We must stand together, challenge misinformation and make clear that racism, discrimination and violence have no place in our community.

@SalfordCouncil received £600,000 as part of “recovery plans developed to support Jewish
communities in the aftermath of the [Heaton Park] attack to rebuild confidence and resilience within their community” yet not a penny went to Jewish organisations.

£120k went to “Centenary Projects celebrating the City /Centenary year” which we were doing anyway.

Instead, the money could have been used at Halfway House where there are genuine safety issues.

Mike, first, it’s the unwhipped Group, not the Non Whipped Group!
Secondly, discussing how we intend to vote and sometimes reaching a consensus isn’t a whip.
Thirdly, we don’t always vote the same way.
And fourthly, you’ve voted the same way as me about 95% of the time. Am I secretly whipping you too? 😂
Correlation ≠ causation, my friend.

At Salford City Council we have the Non Whipped Group led by my friend, Independent Councillor Andrew Walters, with a Lib Dem and a Democratic Socialist. They have their own group office. Consitantly vote together on every issue.
I (didn't go) to @Parklifefest and all I got was this lousy parking ticket. Thanks @BuryCouncil.
Parklife causes enough disruption as it is, albeit I understand @ManCityCouncil makes some money out of it. I got caught out visiting a private residence earlier in the day.
Not quite the souvenir I was hoping for.

Interesting analysis @ZvikaKlein, but I take issue with two of your points.
First off, the Rabbis who attended the White House meeting represent Jewish areas that could accurately be described as "Trump communities." The fact that many of them also supported Democratic candidates in down ballot races is not a contradiction. It's merely the reality of a group of Jews who are pragmatic rather than dogmatic when it comes to politics.
Each of them support the candidates who would best serve the needs of their community, regardless of party affiliation. I believe that more American Jewish voters should emulate that, and not reflexively vote for candidates who happen to have a D after their name, when the D is actually short for DSA.
The second point is that you seem to be questioning their label as "American Jewish leaders," based upon the relatively small percentage of Jews they represent. I beg to differ.
The Hasidic Grand Rabbis and the Lakewood Rosh HaYeshiva who attended the White House meeting collectively represent hundreds of thousands of loyal and committed Jews. They literally fill stadiums for their weddings and other special events. These Rabbis absolutely meet the definition of Jewish leaders, even if most Jews have never interacted with them.
Moreover, as you well know, Hasidic and Orthodox Jews are the fastest growing segment of the Jewish community, with the highest birth rate and the lowest percentage of intermarriages. Politicians from both parties in NY and New Jersey recognize that growth pattern and respond accordingly.
Leading a vibrant Hasidic sect is hard work, and running the largest Jewish college in America is extremely challenging. I've seen both, first hand. These Rabbis deserved to be recognized by President Trump, and the fact that it hasn't happened since President Carter was in office is a sad reflection of who the gatekeepers believe can represent the Jewish community. Despite the wishes of their detractors, the Jewish voices of these Rabbis should always be welcome in Washington DC.
Some context, since most of the coverage has this wrong.
These are being described as Trump communities. They aren't. Kiryas Joel gave Trump close to 100% and then sent a Democrat, Pat Ryan, to Congress. Aaron Teitelbaum endorsed Hochul in 2022. New Square backed Lawler in 2024 after backing his Democratic opponent in 2022. A Kiryas Joel faction endorsed Mamdani last month.
A White House official cited those margins as the reason for the invitation. They aren't a pledge. They're an opening position, and it reopens every cycle.
Six rebbes were in the room, representing something like 3% to 5% of American Jews, and not one religious-Zionist rabbi among them. The wire captions will call them American Jewish leaders anyway.
