95% of the issues in high school sports come down to one thing: Parents believe their kid should be playing over someone else’s kid. You can agree or disagree that is the truth.

What I just cannot understand with my little brain is this... When teams are in MUST-WIN GAMES, 1️⃣They bunt (both for hits and sacs). Like, everybody does it (even the 30+ HR guys) 2️⃣They value putting the ball in play (esp w/ 2 strikes) 3️⃣Backside RBI singles are cool again But, throughout the 162-game season, WHEN 2-3 GAMES get you *IN* or *OUT* of the tournament, most teams put no value on these things 🤨 Tell me why this is? 🤔🤔
Huh….🤔 Bunting in the 5th inning. Amazing what teams do when they HAVE to win. Throw the #’s out. Play the game the way it’s meant to be played. #Feel #Feel #Feel

Funny how everyone wants credit when a kid commits to college. Some travel programs & showcase companies never made a call, sent an email, or even a text to help, yet act like they made it happen. How do I know? I’ve helped hundreds of kids get to college. Seen it firsthand.

I don’t have all the answers but I love baseball because of the ups and downs and constant grind. So here’s some thoughts for the “X hitting” war that is going on right now.

One of the most important parts of the recruiting process is being willing to adjust your expectations based on the information you’re getting. Listen to people who have experience helping players get recruited at different levels. If someone you trust tells you that you may need to expand your list, don’t take that as a negative. Instead, use it as information. Pay attention to what college coaches are telling you. Not just with their words, but with their actions. Are they responding to your emails? Are they calling you? Are they coming to watch you play? Are they inviting you to campus? Are they actively recruiting you? If you’re targeting a certain level and consistently getting little or no interest, it may be time to expand your search. That doesn’t mean giving up on playing college baseball. It means finding the level and the school where somebody wants what you bring to the table. Don’t spend your entire recruiting process trying to force a fit that isn’t there. There are a lot of great college baseball programs at a lot of different levels. Pay attention to the feedback. Follow the interest. Find the right fit.

Saw a 16u kid throw 114 pitches in a summer baseball game today. I thought it was a lot.

It’s rare to see truly aggressive baseball players anymore. Back in the day, guys played hard—hard slides, dirty uniforms, no concern about drip or looking good. They just played the game. Somewhere along the way, we lost that edge. That’s my take.

Free recruiting advice: If a coach of a school you have no interest in is at your game, play as though your dream school is sitting in the stands. Coaches share lots of names they see out on the trail, and your play may open up an opportunity from a school you don’t even know.

Tournament directors… can we start using better baseballs? I’m not calling out any specific event, but the quality of the baseballs at some 15U/16U tournaments has really gone downhill. Teams are paying premium entry fees. The baseballs should match

high school kids will be able to swing drop-6 bats. it incentivizes the wrong thing. if kids are really “walking away from the game” because of the bats, it’s because they swing such juiced up bats in youth ball, it sets up unrealistic expectations. get bigger. get stronger.

Bodie Vosejpka (‘28, MN) throws four innings punching out five. Fastball sat 80-81 topping 82. Worked well down hill and controlled the zone well. Mix in a slider at 70 that showed good late break. @PG_WiscMinn #WWBANORTH
