Your travel team is “elite”.
Your tournament is “national”.
And yet everybody within 40 miles got the same invitation and are playing in it.
Good morning.

Well, that wasn’t the whole pitch …
Shon has all the talent in the world and works hard on his game. His shot selection and defense are getting better every day. Go look at the LSU game. Kid is going to be alright!!!!
Some people tell you the truth and keep it honest with you! The problem is that society has coined it as “hating” and “not believing in” when in fact it’s the opposite. To be a mentor to someone and not let them live up to their potential IS believing in what they can do! Fortunate to have a team full of guys this year who WANT to be coached!
Florida State head coach Luke Loucks' recruiting pitch to Shon Abaev in the transfer portal:
"Shon, you want to play in the NBA? I'm just telling you your efficiency is abysmal. Your shot selection is terrible. You don't guard anyone. You don't rebound. It seems like you're only interested in playing when the ball goes in the hoop. And the ball didn't go in the hoop."
Damn. 😭

LISTEN: Both TCU and Wyoming have JUCO talent on the roster and coaching staff.
Jamie Dixon and Sundance Wicks mention bringing their teams back to the junior college experience.

The average midrange shot in college is worth a 28% three.
Long twos (15+ ft) sit at 26%, draw the fewest shooting fouls of any two (4%), and have the lowest OREB% of any shot (25%).
There's a time and place, but relying on the midrange is minus-EV long term 👇

Dan Hurley on UConn’s “Secret Sauce”
“From a team standpoint, the secret sauce for us is how hard we practice and how intense the environment is. We try to make our practice sessions chaotic. There are no fouls called. There are no water breaks. It is the most intense, the fastest-paced, and the most stressful thing our players will go through.
So when they show up on game night, that’s the secret sauce. On game night, it is a little bit slower and a little bit more comfortable.”

We've reached the worst-case scenario with the 2022 players: A world where lots of players will be eligible through state-level injunctions, but no national consensus and eligibility for different players being dictated by different states on different schedules. What a mess.
Very grateful for this opportunity!

Dan Hurley: "We've had the second most amount of players drafted in the last 4,5 years, but we also have National Championships to show for it and Finals appearances to show for it. We don't hang our hats on just getting our guys to the NBA or just getting to championship games. We're able to do both..."
One of the best shooters I’ve had the chance to coach and an even better person. Be great!
Blessed to announce that I have committed to Black Hills State! Big thanks to @CoachThompsonBH and @MakalebM for the opportunity! 💚💛
