Vision Produces Commitment. Commitment Summons Sacrifice and Sacrifice Fuels Joyful Creativity. 🙏🏾🔵🟡🐴
What I find amazing is the fact that this individual doesn't know anything about our program and has never stepped foot on our campus, but speaks so negatively of us. Not simply football but our students and community. It has to be because he looks like us and he hates that.
Replying to @CoachLeach3
I’ll give the same response here I gave on your other account:
Everything you just said is a complete lie, is slander, and can easily be disproven.
Since I have time this morning and you want to talk personally about someone you never met simply because you don't like my opinions about FOOTBALL let me break your lies down one by one:
1. We were literally on the bus to Grant when I got the phone call from my AD, telling me GRANT'S AD/coach cancelled the game. If you want, I probably can dig up the public record and find the bus expenses for our trip that day. I did not cancel the game, and my school's AD didn't either - he wouldn't even have known how to if he wanted to, that's how incompetent he was/is (as evidenced by how garbage Freedom is at literally every sport since he took over in the role).
Also evidenced by the fact that we played EVERY other game that season and every season I was the coach, including literally beating a D1 San Diego team with bigger players than Grant the very next week, and followed it up by beating a section champion on a 2 year winning streak. AND we played every game in a tougher league than Grant's, including a top 10 team in the state in Pittsburg and a Liberty team that had the same amount of D1 talent that year as Grant. Win lose or draw (admittedly mostly lose), we ALWAYS showed up ready to compete to the best of our ability. Why would this one random week against a team coming off a 1-8 (0-9 on the field) season and a loss the week prior be the one game we choose to forfeit? Oh and there's no record of any forfeit, even though MaxPreps tracks forfeits on people's records? DOES NOT COMPUTE.
Go back to whatever AI you used to come up with that fake story and ask it what its source was and if it lied to you, I guarantee you it says yes. AI's lie about things they don't have sources for.
Next, you want to impugn my character from a racial perspective? You need to learn about who you're talking about before spewing that BS. Let me help educate you:
I got hired at Freedom as the FIRST and ONLY black head football coach in the history of the Liberty Union High School District, one of the oldest and historically most racist school districts in the state. From day 1, I confronted this racism head on and never backed down, including when my own family and the families of my assistant coaches (also 80% black) were physically and verbally assaulted by parents of my own players during games. Including when another school in the city made fried chicken signs to hang on the sideline during our game. I spoke up even louder, and drew the ire of the district by doing a public Black Lives Matter demonstration during our in-town rivalry game against Liberty High and at every game the rest of the season.
This was followed by the same parents who called my and my assistant's families n****** in the bleachers going to the school board and demanding I get fired. I then coached the rest of the season having to literally get a police escort in and out of games due to receiving death threats for continuing to wear BLM clothing on the sidelines during games. Only for my own school administration to tell me I "needed to stop triggering people." I NEVER BACKED DOWN. Did they make up a reason to get rid of me the next year? Yes, but did they have to pay yet another large settlement for their treatment of me? You bet they did.
And most importantly, did my black students and parents consistently say I was the first person at school to ever speak up and advocate against how they were treated by the school? YES.
By the way, my black players had a 3.6 collective GPA during my time at Freedom. All while being undermined by school and district administration.
Walk one day in my experience at Freedom and you would have a mental breakdown, I guarantee it. THAT'S why I retired after doing Juco for a year following that experience and instead took a job teaching justice-impacted youth of color. It's called burnout.
But you want to say I'm racist against other black people without having met me. You speak ignorantly, devoid of logic or fact, and you need to stop lying about people and situations you know nothing about. I went into the belly of the beast and FOUGHT.
I don't talk about this personal experience very much because it's not relevant to analysis of football, but I WILL NOT be spoked about as if I don't care about the cause. And that's why I get to be proud of the 6 wins I was still able to pull off (which by the way, Freedom has literally only won 6 games total since they let me go so clearly I actually did overachieve on the field).
Criticize my football takes all you want - but you don't know who I am and what I've done off the field for our SHARED cause. The same way I share my opinions about football but have never said a word about you or your character - I've never met you so I can't speak on it but of course give you the benefit of the doubt that you do your best just like I do.
I will await your apology. Let it be as loud as the disrespect.
And I will be in contact with the actual decision makers at your school district about your slander. Time will tell what they feel about their district being represented publicly in this way.
"Who taught you to hate yourself from the top of your head to the soles of your feet? Who taught you to hate your own kind? Who taught you to hate the race that you belong to, so much so that you don’t want to be around each other?” — Malcolm X #WhenYouHateTheSkinYourIn
In my 49 years, the harsh reality is that the most bitter and racist attacks often come from black people projecting their self-hatred. They hate they were born black and wished they were born white.
We lead a staff and team that is 80% Black. We do the work, and sometimes, we win. Still, the arrows almost always come from critics who look just like us. It’s a recurring sickness, but we stay focused on winning while they stay focused on throwing stones.
Again, projecting your failures into racist attacks on our program, cosplaying as some “High Football Guru” is utterly ridiculous. You’d love to have our talent, culture, and resources.
During @CoachZSims tenure as varsity head coach at Freedom High School (Oakley, California) across the 2021–22 and 2022–23 seasons, the Falcons compiled an overall record of
5–14: 2021–22 Season: 2–8 overall (1–4 in Bay Valley Athletic League play)
2022–23 Season: 3–6 overall (1–4 in Bay Valley Athletic League play)
September 9, 2022, Freedom was unable to play the contest, resulting in a forfeit win recorded for the Pacers.
Freedom forfeited due to roster attrition and player safety.
After physical losses to Marin Catholic and El Cerrito to open the 2022 season, Freedom suffered multiple injuries that left their already-thin varsity squad severely depleted. Facing a physical Grant team with too few healthy upperclassmen created a significant safety risk, leading Freedom’s staff and administration to forfeit the September 9 matchup. The game went down as an official 2–0 forfeit win for Grant.
The mentality of a loser is not defined by suffering a defeat; everyone loses at some point. True defeatism is a psychological posture—a habitual, deeply ingrained way of interpreting the world that guarantees failure long before the contest even begins. Coach Sims is a prime example of this.
Good Morning!! To all our Haters, you are the air we breathe. Thank you! #TheyHateUsCauseTheyAintUs #WeAreGrant 🔵🟡🐴

Every parent wants their student-athlete to succeed, but opportunities are earned through hard work and execution. Before blaming coaches, challenge your athlete to improve and take ownership. Support their dreams, but don't excuse their shortcomings.

Football Culture is a very interesting thing. You can tell a lot about a program base on how they handle mid season wins as much as how they handle mid season losses. For us it’s simple. We are Blessed with another week to get better to play another opponent. Back to work.

The countdown continues to the City of Trees Bowl on October 9th and a matchup between the 4-1 McClatchy High School Lions 🦁 and the Grant Union High School Pacers 🐴. Two city schools steeped in tradition. Kickoff is at 7:30pm inside Hughes Stadium on the campus of Sacramento City College.
Congratulations!!!!! Let’s Go!!!!
I am blessed to have received an offer from St.Ambrose University #AllGloryToGod Just the beginning! @yemiuno Thank you coach🙏
You make a great point but we have to remember that kids don’t make the decision on what high school they’re going to attend. They also don’t sign the documents that come with accepting a scholarship from a private school. Those decisions are made by adults. The question is Why?
This is how the private schools recruit. When a school can dangle “free tuition scholarships” to these kids how are public schools able to compete. With tuition like that it is also no mistake that these schools have world class fields and training facilities too. Not to mention the budgets to travel nationwide to take on whomever they’d like.
And that is why the 2008 Grant team was the first and last public school team to win the Open Bowl (in the first season that there was a state Open Bowl). So while I am excited to see DLS have a shot at taking down a SoCal super power I think I would be more excited to see a public school like Centennial or Folsom step up and win one for the public schools.
