As an educator, I believe 4th grade is too late. Early intervention in reading must be addressed at 1st and 2nd grade. Retention in those grades allows for the student to gain the foundational skills needed with less of a psychological impact.

My students would love these in the media center. I survive books and graphic novels fly off the shelves.

Excellent podcast about The Sherlock Society. I cannot wait to read this book and share it with all my middle schoolers that come into the library. Thank You @JamesPonti for always writing middle grade books that truly engage the readers.
Please take the time to watch this documentary. All children should be taught how to read and should receive phonics based intervention until they are proficient readers.
