The life of a competitive athlete is very demanding. Remember to take care of you & not just your sport & your team.
If you don't recharge & recover, you won't be able to be your best self & won't have anything to give to your sport & your team.
You are more than your sport.
A reminder to take care of yourself, on and off the field. 💚

I'll be attending. Join me! @MVP_Mindset
In case you missed it, I’m going live today at 4:00pm PST for a free masterclass for coaches and leaders in sport.
I’ll share lessons learned and tools I’ve used with leaders in MLB, the NBA, NFL, and NCAA to help them navigate pressure and the emotional toll of a season.
Live Q&A will be included.
You can register with the link below and if you can’t attend live, sign up before the event and I’ll send you the recording afterward!
Reposting for those in the back!
Focus on development in the fall. Try new things. Be willing to make & learn from mistakes so you can grow. Improve your weaknesses AND your strengths. Fine tune your craft.
If not the fall, when???
Pitchers: don’t worry about your fall ERA.
Throw strikes. Get ahead. Work on the pitch you need to develop.
Learn how to pitch out of trouble. Learn how to compete on the days you don’t have your best stuff.
Fall ball isn’t about putting up numbers. It’s about becoming a better pitcher by the time spring gets here.
Great time seeing @MotleyCrue last night! Big time music & Big Time show! Extreme & Tesla preceding them were really good too! 👇👇👇
Well, @TomBrady has always said he is not even the best athlete in his family - looks like he might be right & that it might be @BradyMaya!
Absolutely love this from @MVP_Mindset!
We are all human who will have an initial REACTION to something, but it's your next thought, your RESPONSE, that really matters!
Athletes will immediately improve their mental game when they stop trying to control their first thought and focus on owning their second.
I tell athletes I care far less about your first thought than your second.
The first thought is your automatic reaction. The second thought is where your training shows up. The second thought is your choice.
It’s the difference between spiraling vs. resetting and reacting vs. responding.
The quality of your second thought often determines the quality of your next action and your ability to execute (and recover).
A learning opportunity for every athlete in every sport.
@usabasketball turned a 14 point deficit into a 26 point lead then cruised to gold in the @FIBAWWC. How did they do it? 👇👇👇
Have you ever heard a coach say "you've got to want it"? What do they really mean by that?
Certainly, everyone wants to be successful and wants to win. So, you might say "I do want it, why are they questioning my desire?"
What they are really saying is you have to be willing to put in the focus and effort necessary to win.
In most of the 1st half, Team USA certainly wanted it and was participating & trying, but, I'd argue, was not fully competing at their maximum capabilty.
Then, they turned up their focus & effort, got defensive stops & turnovers, turning those into points, an insurmountable lead, & ultimately, a gold medal.
So, each time you train & compete, make sure you not only "want it" but that you are also giving the focus and effort to "get it."
Everyone wants to be a champion, but not everyone is willing to do what it takes to be a champion.
Team USA made a decision to give the additional focus and effort needed, turned the game around, & became champions.
💯! A good reminder from @pjonesbaseball.
I remind athletes that you don't "win" the drill with outcomes only. In many cases, you can achieve outcomes but not get better.
Advancing your skills & capabilities is the only way you "win" the drill.
A good round of batting practice isn’t the round with the most home runs.
It’s the round where the hitter accomplishes what he intended to work on.
Driving the ball the other way.
Handling velocity.
Getting on plane earlier.
Controlling the strike zone.
Practice should prepare you to hit in a game—not win batting practice.
