A special delivery brought an unexpected surprise for FDNY EMS members outside Elmhurst Hospital in Queens on Friday night. On Oct. 23, FDNY Paramedics Michelle Marino and Margot Loth, along with EMT Jesse Mattera, helped welcome a baby boy into the world after an Uber driver alerted Paramedic Marino that a passenger was in distress. After quickly recognizing the woman was in active labor, the members worked together to safely assist her onto a stretcher, where Paramedic Marino helped deliver the baby boy just steps away from the hospital. Both mother and baby were stabilized before being brought into Elmhurst Hospital for further evaluation. Our members are always thinking quickly, working together, and dedicated to caring for New Yorkers during life's most unexpected moments.
