Why do we use targets when we throw? Implicit learning Athletes can get domed up pretty quickly That’s why we use the targets. Providing a task oriented environment takes the pressure off of emphasizing “mechanical” changes and can vicariously clean up arm action

Here’s how I would structure a 6-week fall for college pitchers 🧵 Week 1: Data collection 📊 - Movement Screen - Posture screen - Flexibility screen - Power Assessment - TM bullpen + multi-angle video Give guys enough notice in the summer so they can plan ahead & prepare

Week 6: Let them Lead 💪 - Guys were prepped for 5 wks. Give them autonomy to structure the last week - guys throwing in fall game are FR who didn’t have large workload from spring/summer AND transfers with low workload AND guys with low workload who are trying something new

Overview - Fall game is a meaningless win/loss. Try new things and see what the guys are capable of. - Throwing SP1-3 is not it This is where you can implement & see new ideas come to life in a risk-free environment Encourage the guys to try something new where needed

We need to cool it with the low-mid 8 command issue arms hitting the portal because they hit upper 8s in a fall game Realistically, coaches don’t have enough time in college to work on a project arm, unless the pitching staff lacks depth/talent Velo ≠ good baseball player

Instead, understand that filling it up puts you into conversations about playing time Playing time = opportunities to provide value Provide value in said opportunities = more opportunities Also command ≠ good baseball player 75 in ITZ gets barreled Stuff ITZ plays ✅

NLCS MVP Jake Bauers shares how letting go of results helped him find a different level of freedom as a competitor. "I think what changed for me this year was I stopped caring about results. I started caring about competing. I started caring about being in the moment and getting out of my own way." Sometimes, the biggest obstacle to performing at your best isn't a lack of preparation or ability. It's the pressure you place on yourself to produce a particular outcome. You become so concerned with what you want to happen that you lose touch with what the moment actually requires. Any performer can unlock a new level when they learn how to be fully invested in the competition without becoming imprisoned by the outcome. 🎥: Fox Sports

Changes the Rays made to Freddy Peralta pitching after trading for him, per @jorgecastillo - Exclusively pitching out of the stretch - Moved to 3rd base side of rubber - Widened his stance - Sped up his delivery - Gave him a drill package to incorporate into his preparation to generate more strength from his legs - Instructed him to throw more changeups Peralta allowed three runs in 34 innings -- good for a 0.79 ERA -- over his final six regular-season starts and he was named the American League Pitcher of the Month for September (espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/5021…)

I’m always curious to know what a coaches intentions are when they receive a freshman that comes in throwing 90-92 with a 3 pitch mix, decide to make changes immediately, & see velo/stuff plummet as the fall progresses We’re making changes to just make changes at this point

The #Patriots announced that they will no longer be wearing silver pants on Sunday and will instead be wearing their all blue uniforms. This will be the first time New England rocks the blueberries this season 🫐

Joe Mazzulla on reports of the Celtics vibes being high at training camp "Every team you lead is the most together team right now. Because we haven't traveled. No one's gotten benched. No one's been on a losing streak. No one's gotten blamed in the media. No one's had to go stand in the corner for 10 minutes and not get the ball. So, you learn those things as the season goes on, and you just learn how to work through those things together. And you can't simulate those. It just comes with time. And so, right now I would say all 30 teams feel great about themselves, and we got to wait till adversity hits. And adversity is even a strong word. There's nothing really adverse about playing in the NBA. But we got to wait until stuff doesn't go your way, and then you got to figure out who we are and how we're going to be at our best."
