Division III national champion and the nation's leading scorer during the 2025-26 season, Kye Robinson is returning to Mary Washington following a record-breaking sophomore campaign. The 6-foot-2 point guard from Alexandria, Virginia, put together one of the greatest individual seasons in recent Division III basketball history, leading Mary Washington to the program's first-ever national championship while finishing first in the country in total points with 803. Robinson averaged 24.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from three-point range. He saved one of his best performances for the biggest stage, scoring 27 points in a 75-73 national championship victory over Emory and earning Most Outstanding Player honors for the 2026 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament. The accolades continued to pile up throughout the year. Robinson was named a consensus All-American, earning Third Team honors from the NABC and Second Team recognition from D3Hoops.com. He was also a finalist for the Bevo Francis Small College Player of the Year Award and was named the Coast-to-Coast Conference Player of the Year. Simply put, Robinson dominated the game at every level. The crafty left-handed guard does some of his best work operating from the mid-post and with his back to the basket, where he creates advantages with footwork, patience, and elite feel. He plays with a unique blend of pace and unpredictability, constantly keeping defenders off balance while remaining completely under control. Robinson has a knack for getting to his preferred left hand and uses his length exceptionally well around the rim, extending past contests and finishing through traffic. As a playmaker, he is equally dangerous. Robinson consistently creates opportunities for teammates, particularly out of pick-and-roll actions, where he delivers accurate, high-velocity passes directly into shooting pockets. His vision and decision-making make him a difficult player to contain once he gets downhill. Defensively, Robinson impacts the game with anticipation and awareness. He routinely generates turnovers by jumping passing lanes, rotating aggressively in help situations, and capitalizing on offensive mistakes. His instincts allow him to create extra possessions while setting the tone on that end of the floor. After receiving significant Division I interest and multiple opportunities to transfer, Robinson elected to return to Mary Washington for his junior season. With the Eagles bringing back the nation's most accomplished player, their pursuit of a second consecutive national championship is already underway @kyerobinson_1 @UMW_Basketball @Coach_Kahn @UMWathletics
