The NCAA has agreed to reduce Arion Carter’s suspension from 2 games to 1. While I strongly agree with Josh Heupel’s comment about how ridiculous this is in our current environment, 1 game is better than 2. If players around the country are allowed to leave NFL camps and play college football, the NCAA should do the right thing and drop it all altogether. This is yet another example of applying archaic rules from another era, without evolving and, most importantly, putting student-athletes’ experiences above bureaucracy. Arion doesn’t deserve this unnecessary distraction. He is everything that is right about college sports, a team leader who has already earned his degree.

Joe Milton in the Cowboys’ two preseason games: 21 of 28 passing, 286 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs, 142.8 passer rating, 1 rushing TD
Milton: “My comfort level (Saturday) was amazing. Way more confident than I was last year.”
On if his performance shows he should be the No. 2 QB: “That’s out of my control. The only thing I’m able to do is go out there, call the play, and just make sure the offense is moving. Whatever they decide, they decide.”

The #Bears and All-Pro OT Darnell Wright have agreed to terms on a fat new deal to make him one of the NFL’s highest paid, per me and @JFowlerESPN.
He gets a 4-year, $116M deal with $93M guaranteed done by his agents at @OctagonFootball. The former first rounder cashes in.

Tennessee has produced 3 straight 1,000-yd rushers, the longest current streak in the SEC. All 3 did it in their first year as a starter and were All-SEC. @Vol_Football leads the SEC in rushing since the start of the 2021 season, Heupel’s first (204.2 ypg over that span).
