New thread for January 16-24. See previous threads @ProRoeBias These are the only sources amongst the ones I usually check that had a story, and interestingly only CNN mentioned the now unhidden cry that the ERA would codify abortion access. #prolife

This is the UK, but it’s happening in the States as well.
Imagine being in your first week of social work training and being told that some of your fellow students might be there to gain access to vulnerable children. Shocking, right? But this social worker’s point applies anywhere adults work with children. Some people will seek out those roles for the wrong reasons. And the person whose behaviour you need to question might be the nicest person you know. She also makes an important point about why safeguarding starts with having a clear sense of what’s normal and what isn’t. Once that boundary starts to blur, it’s easier for someone to cross it without being challenged. I wish I’d seen this video years ago. I can think of times when something felt off and I kept quiet because I worried I might be wrong or cause offence. Thanks @JournalistJill for highlighting it.

Was the son in “Cat’s in the Cradle”just like dad? The son *was* busy with a new job and a sick kid, but we don’t know he was also an absent father. We do know the son was always respectful and loving. With dad gone, he must’ve learned that from his mom. He grew up just like her!

FORCED ABORTION IS VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN. Forced abortion without consent is a heinous act of violence against women, with deadly consequences for their unborn children and, in some cases, the women themselves. We are devastated and horrified by the case of former West Point cadet Caleb Suh, who pleaded guilty to assault after giving his pregnant girlfriend abortion medication without her knowledge or consent, ending the life of her unborn child. This case raises serious questions about how abortion medications can be obtained through fraud, and what protections exist for pregnant students. Women deserve better than violence, coercion, and forced abortion. Their unborn children deserve protection, too. Read *When Abortion Pills Are Used as Weapons* by Elizabeth Troyer on our Substack, originally published in our magazine, which examines how chemical abortion pills have been used to coerce, deceive, and harm women: womendeservebetter.substack.…

Shame on all the people , mostly men, for enabling this travesty. It’s a total joke
Mr Imane Khelif will once again be punching a woman in the head in a boxing ring on December 15. He gets to do this because as a professional boxer he is eligible to compete against women in many countries. He was never accused of being transgender, he's a man, that's it.

'Trans' is a hiding place-- a cover story-- which makes sure real problems remain unseen. This is what Democrats must come to understand. Real problems like: internalized homophobia mental illness self hatred/self harm bullying counter-dependency having been abused neglect relational losses shaky, under-formed "sense of self" addictive porn use dissociative early life experiences bad parenting friendlessness having been groomed or sexualized These real problems hide behind never-to-be-questioned 'Trans' claims. The enactment: I'm different! I feel pain that does not meet the eye! There are whole parts of me nobody sees or understands! I'm a freak! I can't make it as I am! I need care! 'Trans' is a "cry for help" that now, by daft fiat, cannot be answered as a cry for help. Cannot be questioned or probed or unpacked. It must be answered-- even in little or very troubled kids with other known problems--as a deep and permanent certainty, requiring adult support, and eventually cosmetic body modifications that neuter the child, wreck their sexual health, destroy orgasm, and trap them in a faux, feigned, role-play for life. "Trans" is something rainbow-hued and glitter spangled, that a very unhappy young person can use to both flag and avoid deeper pain. "Come Here/ Go Away" #psychodynamic

Also a fair point that FL has a budget surplus of $3.7B while New York State currently has a projected 3-year deficit of $34.3B which I would guess will continue to grow as people and businesses are leaving in droves. All the programs don’t mean a thing if you can’t pay for them.
It’s a fair point. New York and Florida are basically the same, except for our 24/7 subway system, one of the nation’s largest public hospital systems, a higher minimum wage, stronger worker protections, universal 3-K, paid family leave, paid sick leave, and paid prenatal leave.

It’s actually completely irrelevant whether some males are hobbled enough by extraneous oestrogen to compete with women and girls. And DEEPLY sexist to suggest that this is what female sports are about. Female sports are there to showcase the best of what women and girls can do, not only for biological reason but also to combat centuries of sexism. The constant battle for men to try and take what’s ours is sexist, dehumanising and unfair.

The American College of Pediatricians just put out a 🔥🔥🔥 statement calling out all the major medical associations by name for pushing the gender transition craze on kids. They ask for these groups to "IMMEDIATELY stop the promotion of social affirmation, puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and surgeries for children and adolescents who experience distress over their biological sex." The full @ACPeds statement ⬇️ "Therefore, given the recent research and the revelations of the harmful approach advocated by WPATH and its followers in the United States, we, the undersigned, call upon the medical professional organizations of the United States, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the  Endocrine Society, the Pediatric Endocrine Society, American Medical Association, the American Psychological Association, and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to follow the science and their European professional colleagues and immediately stop the promotion of social affirmation, puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and surgeries for children and adolescents who experience distress over their biological sex.  Instead, these organizations should recommend comprehensive evaluations and therapies aimed at identifying and addressing underlying psychological co-morbidities and neurodiversity that often predispose to and accompany gender dysphoria. We also encourage the physicians who are members of these professional organizations to contact their leadership and urge them to adhere to the evidence-based research now available.”

I deleted a post saying that Ossof is going to be the nominee. Silly me, I forgot that he is Jewish. Even though he has been critical of some Israel policies, there is no way the party of antisemitism will nominate him.

Everyone claims to want people fed, housed, educated, and treated with dignity. That's the easiest moral position imaginable, requiring neither thought nor effort. The sincerity of that commitment is revealed by whether you're willing to examine what actually achieves those outcomes, what undermines them, and at whose expense. By the socialist standard, even forced labor can be justified in pursuit of these goals, and even policies producing the opposite results can be defended as virtuous. Virtue signaling earns applause for good intentions. Genuine concern demands understanding, evidence, and results. Far too many seem content with the applause.

Yeah, yeah, yeah here I go touting Rubio again. But who will match Ossof’s swoon factor; walk fine line of keeping MAGA/winning back swing voters; succinctly lay out any policy, foreign or domestic; and speak eloquently and personally about the American Dream… in fluent Spanish!

If I wrote for the @BabylonBee, I would have proposed a headline “Democrats awake still unhappy after trouncing Trump” with a subhead of “Think maybe the next election will finally make them happy, sign up for AOC’s presidential campaign”

Yes, I know my daughters are going to see naked men. I decide if that happens before they’re adults by being a diligent parent & teaching them about sex when I think they’re mature enough. Not by some random man flashing them in the locker room. They decide whether or not to consent once they’re adults. This notion that women & girls are required to tolerate dick exposure is infuriating.

There is no such thing as a "right" to hide one's sex. Sex is not private information. It is something we can see with our own eyes. If a male goes to great lengths to disguise his sex and lies to everyone around him, exposing him isn't a violation of "privacy." It's an exposure of fraud. If he is hiding his sex and then using intimate spaces meant for female individuals, that is the violation of privacy. If he hides his sex in order to have intimate relations with someone, that's a form of rape. Any and every man who attempts to hide his sex should be publicly exposed.
