Hedgehog from last night. I've noticed now that he/she comes much earlier in the evening around 7.30 and stops going to the feeding station about 11.45. No early morning visits now. I'm not getting much shareable footage. Just glimpses of it running to the feeding station.

I took Bonnie for a bike ride to see if she likes tennis balls. Unsurprisingly she does.
I was trying to distract her as she misses Clyde a lot. He went to the big hospital for his big operationโฆ (1/5)

I found Abraham Lincoln just under a month ago. His leg had been shattered and locals were throwing rocks at him.
Today was a very special day for Abe. Hard to believe how well he is doing

Forget elections. Forget Democrats and Republicans. Forget Trump. Who wants to hear about Bruiser?
He is doing MUCH better! Heโs eating. He looks bright eyed. I swear he feels more fluffy. He slept in my arms for hours last night on the patio couch!

Over near the old house, the cats of Colony#2 were pleased to get an early dinner. Rachel, Yianni, Spud, Mikroulis, Ron, Simba Hudsonson and one I never got around to naming.

I added emergency tube feeding and vitamin supplies to the wishlist if you wish to send supplies for this sweet girl if she makes it through the night and gets to me โค๏ธ your help in facilitating the care of many animals in need, cat and chicken, via the wish list and subscriptions, kind words, and support, has left no small impact on my heart. And an even bigger impact on the lives of these sweet animal friends. And I hope you all know how much I adore each and every one of you โค๏ธ

My birthday is New Year's Eve.
I can generally document when fireworks became a thing at midnight, and I'm sure it was the millennium and thereafter.
Prior to this, we just had family round and sang Auld Lang Syne and hugged each other.
Somehow that seemed to be enough.

I agree.
Having seen first-hand the damage bonfires do (both as an NHS nurse, and a hedgehog hospital), and the suffering and horrible deaths fireworks cause to animals, I could never enjoy them again.
The horses who run themselves to death in terror, the birds who smack into brick walls in the dark through panic, the babies left to die because the terrified parents flee...all for a half hour's primitive fun?
We have evolved beyond this barbarity, surely? We have drone firework displays, for those who want to go out in the cold, crane their heads and say "Ahhh". Put in some earbuds and play explosive noises if you must.
But stop killing animals for entertainment.

So many otherwise trusted sites are posting deadly misinformation about bonfires, and hedgehogs who may be nesting under them.
PLEASE BE CLEAR:
โPoking a broom or stick under the bonfire will do nothing - even if you actually hit the hiding hedgehog and hurt her, she will NOT run.
Hedgehogs DO NOT have the flight or fight reflex that humans and other animals have. Their response to threat and danger, and even pain, is to curl into a ball and stay put, and wait for the danger to pass.
โA hiding hedgehog will NOT hiss, or make any sound at all! They are a prey animal, you are a predator - they will NOT alert a predator to their presence, they will stay silent.
โLighting the bonfire from one side will NOT WORK. Their response to danger is to STAY PUT AND CURL INTO A PROTECTIVE BALL. They won't come running out. As the heat comes closer and the smoke fills her lungs, a hiding hedgehog will just curl tighter.
Whoever wrote these 'tips' does not understand the nature of a hedgehog.
THEY DO NOT RUN FROM DANGER.
Broadcasting this total nonsense is spreading a false sense of security and is potentially extremely harmful.
The only safe bonfire is one that is built or moved ON THE DAY IT IS LIT.
Moving a bonfire takes less time than you'd think.
There are lots of late-born baby hedgehogs around right now, who would see a bonfire as a safe place to nest.
Regrets won't turn back the clock.
The 'If only' will haunt you for a lifetime.
If you have to have a bonfire, please make sure you do it right.

Trans identifying males continually stalk and harass women online. When we fight back, they turn it around and pretend that they are the victim. This is DAVRO. These men also get aroused at the thought of having a stalker. It affirms their sexual fetish. These men are dangerous.
