"The popular faith in words is a veritable disease of the mind, for a superstition of this sort always leads farther and farther away from man's foundations and seduces people into a disastrous identification of the personality with whatever slogan may be in vogue." C.G. Jung
The medieval poets did not believe that the heavens fatalistically determined our future, but they did believe they each had a character that influenced the spiritual climate.

I just learned that the host of a podcast I never heard of, an ugly guy I've never heard of, cheated on his wife with some ugly podcast groupie I've never heard of.
Thanks, Twitter.
Live look: @BudLightSadness any time that he has to go north of Shreveport...

It's an imperfect but workable solution to the "tragedy of the commons." Are there martinets involved? Surely; power is intoxicating. The idea is to have the rules clear for everyone.

3% of “critical” software security bugs, in all of recorded history, have been found in the last month.
This is on pace to find another ~100,000 bugs this year alone, adding ~26% more vulnerabilities to the all time total
Do you realize how fucking insane that is?

I still can’t get over the fact an 82 year old Virginia state senator (Democrat) tried to buy 5 pounds of marijuana from an undercover officer with a paper check.
Then that fucking check bounced due to insufficient funds.

Free legal advice (that should probably be obvious):
You know those really nifty meeting notes AI does for you on zoom calls? Pretty cool right! Very useful to have detailed and accurate notes of your meetings.
Ya. Stop doing that unless you are absolutely certain it will never end up relevant to litigation. Those notes are the opposing lawyer's dream in discovery, as before such meetings had no retrievable record.
It'd be the first thing I'd ask for in discovery these days. And there are methods to find out if you deleted them, btw.

The most dangerous idea in public education is that there are no bad kids.
I had teenagers that molested children, robbed small businesses, shot people, brought guns to school, and tortured animals.
When you don’t take sociopaths seriously, you endanger the entire school.

Stevens was railroaded by corrupt FBI agents and DOJ prosecutors, who engaged in misconduct in the case. That's why his conviction was thrown out.

All you did is just prove that W’s failure to provide political leadership of DOJ enabled a corrupt prosecution of a Republican Senator by career liberals. Those days are over.

Counterpoint: "International Law" is just how we explain the United States Navy to children and invalids, and the Navy ain't gonna do anything to stop him.

I guess I can say it now - so when applicants would apply to the studio, the producer would go through their LinkedIn to see what posts they liked, and if he disagreed with their political/social Like, he'd advocate not to hire them based on their Like.

> What do you do, then, stop using Node, Python, and PHP completely?
So that's terrifying but probably true.
What do you do, then, stop using Node, Python, and PHP completely? Vibe-code your own frameworks and go with security through obscurity?
It's getting pretty alarming that I have to spend an hour a day hardening my security and I'm just some joe with a couple of agents. I can't imagine how exposed companies are right now.

I used to think Excel was just a big table with handy formulas.
After watching some advanced Excel tutorials, I’m convinced it’s actually a coding interface with gridlines.
