Oh snap. Ron Mark woke AF. This is a genuine Beehive.govt.nz media release from 22 August 2019.Scoop Summary: Then-Minister of Defence Hon Ron Mark announced the launch of the Pacific Defence Gender Network in Apia, Samoa. The network aimed to promote the meaningful participation of women in Pacific defence forces through annual seminars and collaboration. It was described as promoting gender equality while encouraging men to become “champions and advocates,” removing recruitment and retention barriers, and building on NZDF experience that greater diversity had improved capability and effectiveness. It was launched during a Women, Peace and Security Summit co-hosted by New Zealand’s Ministry of Defence and Samoa’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Initial members included the defence forces of Fiji, Tonga, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Australia, and New Zealand. It was intended to complement the existing police-led Pacific Women’s Advisory Network.Defence This 2019 announcement is being circulated in the context of Ron Mark’s more recent (2026) comments linking “woke” DEI policies to the HMNZS Manawanui sinking.

While other political parties have been living in a gangsta’s paradise, ACT is campaigning on a serious plan to go further, faster, and harder on crime. We've already brought back Three Strikes, scrapped the prisoner reduction target, and ended taxpayer funding for cultural reports. Now, ACT is campaigning on: 🚨 THREE STRIKES FOR BURGLARY: Three burglaries should mean at least three years in prison, no parole. Repeat offenders need real consequences. 🛡️ BACKING BUSINESSES: Some shop owners feel criminals have more rights than they do. We'll give accredited security operators stronger powers to remove troublemakers, require identification, detain offenders in certain circumstances, and ban them from multiple premises for up to three years. 🚜 CRACKING DOWN ON RURAL CRIME: An extra 100,000 Police patrol hours each year, a dedicated rural crime unit, tougher penalties for livestock theft and poaching, and wider Text 111 coverage. 👶 KEEPING CHILDREN SAFE: A national Working with Children Card with continuously updated vetting and safety checks. 🐾 PROTECTING VICTIMS OF FAMILY VIOLENCE: Criminalise coercion through animal abuse. 🚫 STOPPING DEEPFAKE ABUSE: Outlaw non-consensual deepfake pornography. ⚖️ JUSTICE FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE VICTIMS: End 'good character' sentence reductions for child sex offenders. 🔊 STOPPING ANTI-SOCIAL VEHICLE NOISE: Deploy relocatable noise sensors to catch offenders. 🗑️ CRACKING DOWN ON ILLEGAL DUMPING: Fines of $1,000, rising to $2,000 for repeat offenders. ⏱️ FASTER JUSTICE: Continue reforming the courts so victims get justice sooner and criminals face consequences faster. Party Vote ACT to put the rights of law-abiding citizens first.

😂 Winston Peters lecturing people about respecting their time on the Dom Harvey podcast. You couldn’t make this stuff up. In Bill Birch’s book, he recounts Peters turning up late to delegations, leaving Birch to step in, alongside accounts of drunkenness, absenteeism and hangovers. And what finally pushed Birch to expel Peters from caucus? “The effing lies.” Let that sink in. Now look at NZ First’s promises this term. A 42% conversion rate on their campaign promises. How much is genuine delivery and how much is political theatre? How many promises have actually resulted in meaningful, lasting change for New Zealand? Politicians can say whatever they like. The record is what matters. Read it. Check the promises. You decide who actually means what they say. 👀🇳🇿 #nzpol

Winston Peters was asked on ZB today where the money is coming from for his Zohran Mamdhani promises: • Increase Working for Families • Subsidise sunscreen • $1,000 KiwiSaver contribution for every newborn • Cut company tax from 28% to 20% • Buy BNZ and merge it with Kiwibank • Establish a $100 billion Future Fund • Infrastructure spending and minimum wage increases Winston’s defence was that the Government’s Budget was effectively NZ First’s alternative budget because they’re part of the National-led coalition. 😂😂But that’s precisely the point. He can point to the Government’s Budget, separate out NZ First policies and announce a list of promises without ever producing a comprehensive, fully costed alternative fiscal plan of his own. It’s effectively copying and pasting the Government’s fiscal framework, adding policy announcements and leaving voters to wonder how the numbers actually stack up.🤦🏾‍♂️ That’s disingenuous. Announcing policies is not the same as costing them. And this is a pattern that deserves scrutiny. Where is the evidence behind the spending commitments, tax cuts, BNZ takeover and proposed $100 billion Future Fund? What are the fiscal projections, trade-offs and funding sources? Read Bill Birch’s Minister of Everything for a different perspective on Winston’s role as Treasurer. Birch had to step in on more than 10 occasions when Winston failed to turn up on time to meet delegations, leaving Birch to cover because he was hung over. That raises questions about Winston’s claims of economic stewardship, ask anyone around he traps in those times Bill did all the grunt work while someone dived for a soundbyte! And as Kerre Woodham put it, Winston is out there like Oprah promising everyone a pony! The hypocrisy is glaring: Winston attacks other parties over their promises while avoiding the same scrutiny of his own. NZ First voters deserve more than sound bites and a shopping list of uncosted policies. Show us the numbers, Winston. #nzpol

𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗿'𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝘂𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗞𝗶𝘄𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁 “Labour wants to make it harder to end a tenancy, but they're ignoring how that makes it harder to get one in the first place,” says ACT Leader David Seymour. "No landlord wants to get rid of a good tenant. A reliable tenant who pays the rent and looks after the property is exactly what landlords want. Finding a new tenant costs time and money. “But when landlords face greater risks and costs if a tenancy goes wrong, they're less willing to take a chance on someone without perfect references, a steady job, or a spotless rental history. It's the young person renting for the first time, the family trying to get back on their feet, or someone with a difficult rental history who risks missing out. “ACT restored the ability to end a periodic tenancy with 90 days' notice, giving landlords more confidence to take a chance on a tenant. “Labour claims to want affordable rents, but median weekly rents rose by $180 during its last term in Government when these policies were in place. Labour piled costs and regulations onto landlords, and renters paid the price. Now they want to do it all over again. “ACT is taking the opposite approach. We'll abolish Labour's loss ring-fencing rules, making it easier to invest in rental housing and maintain existing properties. Alongside our reforms to make building easier and cheaper, that means more homes and more choice for renters. “Labour's answer to the housing crisis is always more rules. ACT's answer is more homes, lower costs, and a rental market that works for landlords and tenants alike. Renters deserve a fair deal and that starts with having somewhere to rent.”

Commander Yvonne Gray was not platform-endorsed for HMNZS Manawanui. The Court of Inquiry found that key personnel on the bridge (including those involved in the incident) had deficiencies in ship qualifications and platform endorsements. Specifically, reporting on the findings noted that the Commanding Officer was not platform-endorsed for the vessel — a requirement set out in the New Zealand Manual of Navigation. Mark later told RNZ that his comments were not an attack on women in the Defence Force (which he said he found “appalling”), that Gray had a “strong defence,” and that the focus should be on “the men who made certain decisions.” He framed the ad around NZ First’s preference for meritocracy over DEI.

Funny watching NZ First obsess over wokeness as if it's still 2023. No wonder they've stalled in the polls & are heading downwards. Wokeness & anti-wokeness can divert attention from a failed economy, but is only works for so long before it becomes self-defeating.
