Dollar cost averaging. Sounds fancy, it is not.
It just means you invest the same amount of money on a set schedule, no matter what the market is doing. Every payday, every week, every month, same dollar amount going in.
When prices dip, that same amount buys you more shares. When prices run, it buys you fewer. Over time your cost per share settles somewhere in the middle instead of betting everything on one entry.
The real reason it works is it takes emotion out of it. You never have to sit there deciding if today is a good day to buy. The schedule decides for you.
Most people do not get rich timing the market. They get there by showing up every single month for years.
