It's honestly whitepilling to know that the American people hate Trump way more than the media does. They're clearly not numb to him nor do they think he's a lovable bad boy. He's so bad that Mississippi snapped.

Waiting for the thinkpiece on this mean girl ass campaign … I got fed a lot of Brandon ads because I’m in TX-23 and they’re all like “this cute nice lady who looks exactly like 40% of the women who live around you is TOO HIDEOUS FOR CONGRESS.” Like who is your base — gym gays?!

The truth is: these are not smart people, and things got really out of hand

If you’re a moderate Dem, you roll your eyes a bit here bc this was how Obama beat Romney in 2012. Hillary stepped away from that strategy but it’s still the Dems’ Nicean creed.
But Sanders obviously identified, instantly, how Trump’s alliance with big tech and the ultra wealthy was a threat to his brand — the “blue collar billionaire” who couldn’t be bought. The “deplorables” weren’t in the front row at the inauguration. Elon and Zuck were. The lower middle class guy who bought some crypto wasn’t getting rich. World Liberty Financial investors were
So when Elon went all in for Trump in 2024, it looked like the world’s smartest man was joining Trump’s populist movement. By this September, when Elon was trying to bail out Paxton, pretty easy for Talarico to say — this is what I mean, look at this trillionaire trying to buy a senator so he can guzzle up our resources and leave you with nothing.

I know this is meant to be some based bullshit about dictatorship or w/e but that's exactly what you did have: you had every counter-majoritarian institution: senate, supreme court, president who won the first time without the popular vote, all the billionaires, and still lost

Vance’s ideas for the GOP
1. End the war (that his admin started)
2. Focus on cost of living (which he exacerbated with the war and tariffs)
3. Change our relationship to Israel (which has been defined by Trump’s embrace of Bibi, up to and including going to war for him)
4. America First (ok.)
It’s going to be very interesting to see how “We should do the opposite of Trump in every way, and we shall call it …. Trumpism!” will play.
One of the things the data analysts on our side obsessed over was "composition"—whether the electorate looked close enough to 2024 for Republicans to win. And despite polls that showed a Democrat blowout, the data kept on telling us the same story: in some states turnout was merely OK, in other states it was downright amazing, and in no state was it catastrophic. There was a genuine sense of optimism on our team: our people were showing up.
So, I asked the smartest data guy I know, does that mean we're going to shock the world? "No," he told me. "We might do better than the polls suggest. But the data is telling us that a lot of Trump/Vance 2024 voters are pissed and planning to vote for the other guys. Our voters are turning out, but they may not vote for us."
Well, that looks prophetic now. Our voters did show up. In Florida, for example, the electorate was 9 points more Republican than Democrat, just a couple points worse than 2024. Undoubtedly there were places we could have done better on turnout. But the main problem is not turnout. The main problem is that many people who voted for Trump/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026.
There will be a lot of infighting and arguing over what happened and why that is. One of the pollsters I really respect told me that our economic messaging wasn’t sharp enough down the stretch. I’m sure that’s true.
But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone.
Another pollster—one of the smartest people I know in politics, told me yesterday we’d lose the generic ballot by 13 points. I felt negative going into Tuesday, but even I was shocked by this. In his polling, he saw that a lot of Trump 2024 voters were angry and planning to vote for Democrats. He asked those voters who had abandoned us what would cause them to come back on our team. The top four answers, accounting for nearly all of the responses were:
1) End the war
2) Focus on cost of living/inflation
3) Put America First
4) Change our relationship to Israel
Our voters showed up. And the above four reasons are why many of them voted for Democrats. This is according to a pollster who nailed the results. While many spent Monday attacking Rachel Campos Duffy for calling for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, it turns out her political advice was sound. (She’s also a great person.)
In the next few months, there's going to be a lot of gaslighting. Expect to hear any number of establishment politicians say the solution to our woes is amnesty. I'm open to the idea that we should change enforcement—by focusing more on businesses that hire illegal labor, for instance. But anyone pushing amnesty is lying to you.
The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night.
If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that's at least honest.
But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there.
I remain hopeful about our country. To the people who are pissed off and want to say, “I told you so”: you’re right, you did tell us so. Take that energy into electing Republicans who share your worldview. To the people who are just pissed at the results, you should be. Let’s take that anger and get back to the work of saving our country.

It's over. Scott DesJarlais — in Congress since 2011, in a seat redrawn at Trump +24 and priced at 99.9% Republican — has lost to Democrat Victoria Broderick by 280 votes, 95,585 to 95,305, 100% counted. She raised less than $100,000. The shock of the night in Tennessee.

That US admin never had a plan to begin with and the blue team is about to publicly guillotine them.
Decoupling, tariff supremacy and assorted AI ramblings are officially dead. Good riddance.
Trump is likely to escalate soon with Iran because leaving Israel and the Gulf monarchies in the ditch would cost him and his clique dearly. That military operation could either promptly get bogged down if there is an amphibious component because Iran has prepared for this for 30 years or be mainly airstrikes and then Iran just needs to absorb for 8 weeks, block traffic and earn a small symbolic win on US / Isreali militaries to keep their domestic credibility. IRGC gains traction within Iran which becomes a Pakistani-style military nation.
Russia will offer to mediate the Iran conflict in exchange of throwing Ukraine under the bus for a second time and completely restrict their supply of weapons. Trump will lean heavily on Europe and completely alienate all remaining goodwill from European allies to do so. Then Russia will default on its promise and do nothing about Iran, primarily because they can't do much anyway, higher energy prices serves their interest and they are just leveraging a desperate and soon-to-be-irrelevant US leadership.
Then we go back to the half-open / half-closed Hormuz strait. Risk premia ebbs and flows, circa $5-15 per barrel of crude and twice as much on LNG.
Witkoff and Kushner will sign dodgy deals with Russian business interests and the Democrats will chase them, unveiling the gnarliest corruption cases in American history. No one will ever go to jail as they get preventively pardoned.
Europe will sign free trade agreements with absolutely everyone and invest the capital that currently flows towards the US stock market towards emerging markets, like India, Indonesia or Latam, and also towards friendlier developed markets like Japan or South Korea for chip tech and Canada for energy and manufacturing. That is bearish USD, and one can expect the Euro, Chinese Yuan to act as countercyclical currencies like the Swiss Franc or Japanese Yen historically did.
Next two months are going to be absolutely lit. On the energy front it gets worse before it gets better. Hang on to your helmets.
A Republican sweep was all but assured today.
Not because of how bad polling is. Not because of how bad Dem candidates are. Not because of how easily betting markets are manipulated. Nor because of how broken economic sentiment trackers are.
It’s because this admin has a plan.
This admin is aware that we are at a pivotal juncture in the history of this country.
We have to get AI right.
We have to decouple from China. Not the U.S. from China. The collective west has to be torn away completely.
We need to crush Canada to show the Europeans what it costs to step out of line.
We need to re-industrialize *before* robotics starts to ramp.
We need to regime change Iran *before* drones become a lot more lethal with onboard AI.
We need to regime change left-leaning South American countries *before* Europe attempts to say no when we force them to decouple from China.
And if Trump is a lame duck for two years navigating any of this will be impossible.
And because the actions that lead to the current point are only rational if there is a decoupling plan at the end of all this the only conclusion one can make is that the admin is far more sanguine about today’s results than literally everyone else.
And because wall st is terrible at framing and betting on unquantifiable scenarios.
And because I have closely observed how the pollsters and pundits have attempted to model elections.
And because I understand the economic divergence that has occurred between Dems and repubs under this admin.
I feel perfectly comfortable putting my reputation on the line.
Because if I’m wrong I’m not just wrong about elections. I’m probably also wrong about the strategic capacity of the current admin.
And if they didn’t put sufficient thought into navigating the midterms all is lost anyways.
Republican sweep. Decoupling next. Never blackpill.
