Congratulations to our Hoover colleague Bob Hall on winning the 2026 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. Bob is one of the most distinguished economists of his generation, whose work has profoundly shaped our understanding of economic growth, employment, and the forces that drive the American economy. He has been instrumental in the way policy leaders think about the free market economy. This great honor is a well-deserved recognition of a remarkable career.

I was honored to join the President and First Lady, Secretary Hegseth, and General Caine this morning for the 25th Anniversary 9/11 Observance Ceremony at the Pentagon. Let us always remember: That those who thought the world could be ruled by hate and fear were wrong. Our country did not let that dark vision of humanity stand. That vigilance is still required to protect and secure us. That we are one people — drawn from different religious, ethnic and national origins, but forged into an extraordinary whole — we are American. That we are called to protect each other and to care for one another. That freedom is fragile and must be defended and won by each generation. That we are a fortunate people who enjoy the blessings of liberty and must never take them for granted. The Apostle Paul tells us in Romans V that struggle is a privilege — that out of it comes perseverance and hope. September 11 tested us, but it did not break us. As we meet the many challenges ahead, may the memory of our response to that searing experience bring hope for our future as a country and as a people.

There are few industries more synonymous with American business and culture than the automotive industry. For well over a hundred years, Detroit automakers have propelled Americans forward, shrinking the distances between places and enabling new opportunities. Mary Barra, Chair and CEO of General Motors, today leads one of the world’s largest automakers. How did she rise through the ranks at GM, and what did it teach her about American business and leadership? In our latest episode of Only In America, Mary and I sat down to discuss her story and leadership of an iconic global enterprise. From her beginnings on the factory floor to steering an industry through massive technological change, Mary's story exemplifies America's national strength: its people. youtu.be/Oaq9X7jLLQ8?si=rFrF…

America is a land of opportunity, and it is also a land of reinvention. Our history is full of ambitious entrepreneurs who transformed technologies, industries, and society, often more than once in a lifetime. How does a history major become one of Silicon Valley's most influential entrepreneurs? That is where my conversation begins with my friend Tom Siebel, for the third episode of the @HooverInst series "Only in America." We explored why he believes America's education system, commitment to liberty, and culture of opportunity remain the foundation of our nation's success; the transformative promise of the AI revolution; what surviving a near-fatal elephant attack and the sudden loss of his sight have taught him about resilience and reinvention; and why he believes America's greatest days still lie ahead. I hope you will watch our conversation.youtu.be/-1vzPvWN-8s?si=jHos…

For over two centuries, one of America’s greatest strengths has been its ability to attract the very best talent from around the world—those seeking education, opportunity, and the freedom to build something extraordinary. Few embody that story more fully than my longtime colleague and good friend, Indra Nooyi. In the second episode of the @HooverInst series “Only in America,” I sat down with Indra in New York City—a landing point throughout our history for people from all over the world—to ask the question at the heart of this project: Could your success have happened anywhere else? Indra’s journey, from leaving her home in India to pursue graduate studies at Yale, to rising through corporate America to lead PepsiCo, is a testament to what is possible in our country. We explored immigrating to the United States; her education and early business career; how she rose to leadership at PepsiCo; the importance of innovation to economic growth; what is distinctive about American culture and society; and why she is grateful to be part of the American story. I hope you will continue with us on this season-long exploration of the American idea in practice. youtu.be/WHZdY_H_y_M

Two hundred and fifty years ago, our nation’s founders took an extraordinary step, declaring that liberty and self-government were the birthright of a free people.    One of the most remarkable stories in human history emerged from that moment.    For generations, we have carried forward the enduring belief that every person possesses inherent dignity and that freedom is the ingredient needed to unlock human potential. Across our nation, countless men and women have risen from humble beginnings to lives of extraordinary achievement. Our citizens, from every walk of life, have inspired innovation, enterprise, discovery, service, and sacrifice on a scale few could have imagined.    As we celebrate our 250th anniversary, we honor those who built, defended, and strengthened this nation across the generations. The principles that animated our founding remain as vital today as they were in 1776.   May we reflect on the remarkable inheritance we share as Americans, and look with hope toward the future.

Today, @NVIDIA is widely recognized as the most consequential technology company in the world. But when Founder and CEO Jensen Huang hatched the idea more than three decades ago, it was viewed as little more than an incredibly risky bet on a new approach to computing. How did Huang, an immigrant from working class roots in Taiwan, build this company into what it is today? In the first installment of the Hoover Institution's Only in America series, @CondoleezzaRice sits down with Huang to explore why his rise—and that of NVIDIA—couldn't have happened anywhere else. 04:42 Jensen Huang's journey to the US 07:54 Jensen's experience at boarding school in Kentucky 14:23 How Jensen came to Silicon Valley 17:23 Founding NVIDIA 23:40 The evolution and growth of NVIDIA 27:08 Sustaining motivation amid challenges 29:01 America's exceptional tech sector 32:28 Why Huang is a "cautious optimist" on AI 35:10 Jensen Huang's Only in America story

As our nation approaches its 250th anniversary, we have a unique opportunity to reflect on the enduring relationship between freedom and human achievement. To explore this, the @HooverInst has launched a new series that I am privileged to host, "Only in America." Throughout the series, I sit down with some of our nation’s most accomplished innovators, entrepreneurs, scientists, artists, and business leaders to ask a simple but profound question: Could your success have happened anywhere else? For our premiere episode, I visited the NVIDIA campus to talk with my friend Jensen Huang. Jensen’s journey, from coming to America as a child to leading one of the most consequential technology companies in the world, perfectly embodies the spirit of this project. We explored the experiences, opportunities, and institutions that shaped his remarkable journey, from the vision that led him to found NVIDIA and the perseverance required to navigate years of uncertainty and skepticism, to the future of artificial intelligence and America's role in advancing it. As Jensen put it: "I am the embodiment of the American dream." I hope you will watch this first episode and join us for this season-long exploration of the American idea in practice.youtu.be/ZEL0EAVtCTY

This is a new day in the Middle East, though it isn’t one without clouds. Strategic patience is hard, and it isn’t always satisfying. But time is on the side of the U.S. and its allies. My thoughts on what we've accomplished in Iran: wsj.com/opinion/what-the-u-s…
