"The battle now includes Iranian soil and Tehran itself. The war has made Iran weaker because it incurred direct costs. This can be an opportunity to reach a comprehensive deal."

I know my post below didn’t go down well. Many people replied that it was wrong and that more than a dozen Arabs had won Nobel Prizes since the awards began. Fair enough. Here’s another statistic:
The Arab world accounts for roughly 6% of humanity, yet Arabs make up about 1% of Nobel laureates. Jews represent around 0.2% of the global population but account for roughly 22% of Nobel laureates.
I still believe Arabs should ask themselves why they are falling so far behind. Progress begins with an honest reckoning with reality. We will never move forward by refusing to face it.

It took two years after 1982 for Hezbollah to begin bombing embassies, drive intl peacekeepers out of Lebanon, cancel the May 17 tripartite agreement with support from Syria & begin a long string of kidnappings & assassinations.
Not against politicians, only, but softer targets that included Malcolm Kerr - a former AUB president.
Last week’s news of C4 explosives is what we know of so far. It is a matter of time before Hezbollah succeeds in blowing up their opponents & bringing this govt down.
And the Iranian regime has the same playbook in mind. It may take them years, but they intend to win on the ground as everyone else gives up on Lebanon.
For this reason - & to avoid a generation of repetition - the prime minister’s mission, today, must leverage all efforts towards divorcing Hezbollah from Iran.
Not for Israel’s sake - or anyone else’s - but ours.
And make this an intl priority that relieves us of a burden beyond our control. Rather than positive statements, alone, diminished by sessions of constant compromise that border on assisted suicide.

your description of the case is not quite accurate:
- the judge did find that I was defamed, as “injury to my honor “ occurred, which implies that the information about me in the Middle East Transparent Article was false;
- the judge also found that the link between you and this information was not sufficiently established. You , I and the journalist know that you were the source;
- you state- falsely- that the firm of which I am part acted for the Central Bank. The firm acted only for the counterparts in the relevant transactions , in accordance with all applicable ethical and regulatory standards;
- you conveniently omit to state that the judge issued an order which remained in effect for 5 months and now vacated preventing you from continuing to circulate false information about me.
Former minister and Dechert lawyer Camille Abu Sleiman has lost Swiss court proceedings against Accountability Now and its president, Swiss lawyer Zena Wakim.
The Swiss judges questioned the “evidentiary value” of material submitted by Abu Sleiman, raising concerns about “how they were obtained” in circumstances that “remain unclear.” Abu Sleiman was ordered to pay CHF 6,000 (US$ 7,200) in legal costs. The judgment against Abu Sleiman is final and executory.
According to criminal proceedings initiated by Banque du Liban, more than US$600 million in central bank funds were channeled through Bankmed and Bank Audi for the benefit of senior Lebanese politicians and banking figures.
The series of transactions were structured by Camille Abu Sleiman, who acted as legal counsel to Bank Audi and Bankmed while also advising Banque du Liban, raising serious questions about potential conflicts of interest.
Accountability Now intends to refer the conduct of Abu Sleiman and Dechert to the relevant UK professional regulator, seeking scrutiny of the pressure exerted on civil society actors, potential conflicts of interest, and the acquisition and use of evidence. This includes false written allegations made by Samara Azzi in support of Abu Sleiman’s unsuccessful application. Separately, the Swiss court found the probative value of two exhibits submitted by Abu Sleiman doubtful because the circumstances in which they had been obtained remained unclear.
The ruling marks a significant victory for civil society against legal pressure aimed at restricting investigations into corruption and impunity in Lebanon.
The Lebanese Depositors Union had previously publicly denounced alleged threats and attempts at blackmail by Abu Sleiman, which it said were intended to force it to abandon its criminal complaints in Lebanon.
We can fragment and destabilize on our own thank you; we don't need Israel.
Israel is uninterested in peace with Lebanon, seeks to fragment the country, maintain a buffer zone on its land, and engage in pereptual war. That's why Lebanon should avoid civil conflict. Don't believe me, believe the IDF's former intelligence head. Mine for @NationalComment: thenationalnews.com/opinion/…

The "Next JCPOA should be joint, comprehensive and have a plan of action"...In other words, repurpose the scope, authority, rules & standards of UNSCR 678 & the Gulf War ceasefire. That requires you to cure the Iraq Syndrome & apply the Saddam precedent.

When Michel Samaha was arrested & exposed for transporting explosives into Lebanon, the man that played a central role in his arrest - Wissam al-Hassan - was assassinated two months later.
Wissam al-Hassan had warned my father that he was under surveillance. Only to be killed by the same group that recently smuggled 800kg of the same explosives.
The threat remains. And until they are divorced from Iran & disarmed, Hezbollah will target anyone that stands in their way.
Even more relevant now.

It is not @SkyYaldaHakim who should be questioned about her professionalism, but the channels that did not cover the #Riyadh airport attack the way they would have had a terrorist group attacked JFK, LAX or Heathrow.

OPINION: The @SkyNews UK interview with a Houthi spokesman did not platform terrorists — it exposed them. Their justifications for targeting pilgrims and civilian airports reveal hypocrisy that serves Tehran not Yemen, writes Editor-in-Chief @FaisalJAbbas arab.news/vsscg
