Delhi: At India Mobile Congress 2026, Lt. Gen. Dr. SP Kochhar, Director General, Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), says, “Let's not take one thing at a time. Okay, what is our aim? When the GST Council, which is a very tight-fisted Council, it's very difficult to get decisions out of them because unanimous decisions are required. If they have started taking decisions, it shows the flexibility that the Indian ecosystem is showing. they are going along with the government policy, and not taking decisions which are solely looked at under a separate lens. So, if they are making an environment which is conducive for others to come in and manufacture in India and export to the rest of the world, it speaks volumes of what the Indian ecosystem is doing... Things have not been able to go through changes in the GST Council, the reason being that unanimous decisions of states and the Centre are required, which doesn't always happen. But now that it has started happening, it speaks volumes of how the Indian ecosystem is going.”
