Today, my thoughts are with Rhiannon Whyte’s mum and everyone who loved her. On 20 October 2024, Rhiannon was brutally attacked as she made her way home from work. She was just 27 years old. Three days later, she lost her life. Think about that for a moment. A young woman going about her everyday life, finishing work and making her way home, never knowing she would never make it home to the people who loved her. Behind every headline is a family left to live with unimaginable pain. A mum who has to face every day without her daughter. Birthdays, Christmases and all the little moments that should have been shared, but never will be. Rhiannon was someone’s daughter, someone’s mum someone’s friend and a young woman with her whole life ahead of her. No words can undo what happened, and no mother should ever have to endure the pain of losing her child in such horrific circumstances. Today, I want Rhiannon’s name to be remembered, and I want her mum to know that she and her beautiful daughter are in all of our thoughts. Rhiannon will never be just another headline.
