It's shaping up to be a beautiful fall weekend! ☀️🍂 Heading out to one of our parks? Please remember to stay back from cliff edges and drop-offs, keep pets on a leash (max 6 ft/2 m) and carry out any disposable items. Let's work together to keep our parks beautiful, safe and enjoyable for all.

DYK? Your property may be in a floodplain—even if you’ve never experienced a flood. 🌊
Rain and snowmelt can cause rivers, streams, and lakes to overflow onto surrounding lands.
Conservation Authorities use floodplain mapping to inform safe development and reduce flood risks.

ALT An eye-level, wide shot captures a flooded residential street lined with green trees, utility poles, and mailboxes reflecting in the calm, murky water. The floodwater covers the entire road, submerging lawns and the bases of utility poles, mailboxes, and a small green shed. In the background, a few cars are parked on a drier section of the road.

Happy #WorldHabitatDay! 💚 Shallow wetlands are dynamic places, with water levels that naturally rise and fall throughout the year. Along with providing food, shelter and breeding habitat for wildlife, they also help slow and store water during heavy rainfall, helping reduce the risk of flooding downstream. These habitats give species a place to live, grow and reproduce. Restoring habitat means creating space for all of them and building a more resilient watershed!
We’re making waves! 🌊 The 20th annual Halton Children’s Water Festival is officially underway. 🎉 For two decades, the #HCWF has brought students together to learn, explore and discover why water and climate stewardship matters. Welcome to Kelso, future water stewards!
