What a lovely service this morning on Hawkeys Lane. Well done to everyone involved in organising.
It was an honour to lay a wreath on behalf of all of those in Preston & Preston Grange.
Great to pop by North Shields Methodist Church afterwards too for a much needed hot drink! āļø

Excellent to speak to Conservative Group Leadersā this evening on how to use AI within their groups.
Other political parties (cough Reform cough) use AI because they canāt think for themselves.
Our councillors need to use it to make themselves more efficient while retaining their own judgement and ensuring their residentsā voices remain at the heart of everything they do.

Will Labour back our local hospitality industry?
šš½ļø Free parking for Restaurant Week!
Iāve written to North Tynesideās Mayor calling for free parking in council-run town centre car parks and on street parking during North Tyneside Restaurant Week, 5ā11 October.
Iāve proposed using money from the councilās forecast Marketing underspend to fund it, helping residents support our local restaurants without cutting services.
Our restaurants are doing their bit with special offers - the council needs to do its bit too!
Let's see if Labour back my plan and give our local restaurants a well needed boost this Autumn.

ā ļø It is disappointing that @NTCouncilTeam has scrapped school holiday supermarket vouchers for families receiving free school meals.
š The council has confirmed that the Ā£65 voucher issued this summer was the last. From the next school holidays in October, families will no longer receive help towards their food shop.
The Mayor claims support has not been withdrawn because holiday activities and crisis assistance remain available. But neither is a replacement for money towards the weekly food shop and families should not have to reach crisis point before receiving help.
The Household Support Fund was introduced by the Conservative Government to put direct support into peopleās pockets. Labour talks big on the cost of living, but when it comes to providing families with practical financial help, they simply arenāt interested.
š½ļø The Mayorās claim that some free holiday clubs will have the same impact as actual food in a shopping basket to put food on the table is frankly laughable.

Labour has pulled tomorrowās vote to delay the summer recess so the new Prime Minister can face questions in the House of Commons, replacing it with a general debate instead.
What on earth are they so scared of?
If Burnham canāt face scrutiny from MPs before heās even made it to No. 10, what does that say about the confidence he has in his own Government? It looks like the bunker mentality has started before the premiership has even begun.
