The fact that a foul is being highlighted as a “highlight” speaks to the disconnect in how officiating is viewed and discussed. What some see as a great basketball play, others see as a missed call—which it was. This is precisely why perspectives on Game 5 differ.

That League wants to “humble” Angel on the biggest stage the play is obvious. What they don’t realize though is that no matter what Angel will remain blessed while y’all rot. But it’s sad what this league will do for a check @WNBA
Beyond officiating, the Dream need to unite. Since Game 3, the guards have slowed the pace, settled for 3s and abandoned the paint. Karl Smesko inexplicably abandoned a winning offense. It’s a lot to overcome, but they can if they prioritize the team over individual accolades.
The same accounts that cherry-picked stats to convince people Angel Reese couldn’t play now use FT totals to dismiss biased officiating. They ignore context, missed fouls that swing games, and push false narratives. Angel Reese hate makes people and sports media dumb as fuck. 😂
DiJonai gets ejected, yet Burton doesn’t get called for a foul? The Valkyries get the same favoritism as the Fever. I question how much team valuations influence officiating. At this point, it feels like the league is protecting its investments at the expense of fair competition.
Veronica Burton should have been ejected for pulling down Allisha Gray face.
Windup, follow threw & potential for injury with no call is crazy. This is a FLAGRANT 2.
Dijonai was ejected for less. Refs can't ignore fouls like this

ATL leadership better confront Karl Smesko over his awful coaching, rotations and abandoning a winning offense and the league for letting the Valkyries hack their players without consequences. These Finals are becoming an absolute disgrace, and it’s starting to feel intentional.
With how great the @AtlantaDream media team is, I’d have them put together a compilation of all these bullshit calls/no calls and post it with audio from this postgame presser. Let that shit be the talk for the next couple of days leading up to Game 6. Show the world in 4k🤔
Blatant body contact before the block is a foul. Touching the ball afterward doesn’t make it clean. The WNBA and commentators praising “elite” rim protection while ignoring obvious fouls is INSANE. Half those “blocks” are fouls normally, but not against the Dream, apparently.

This is crazy, especially considering that foul calls are harder to get in FIBA. It's also not surprising if you've watched how the WNBA refs call Angel. Hacked all game and FG% obviously is impacted. The WNBA is deeply corrupt and clearly has an agenda against Angel Reese.

This officiating was set up to humble the dream. Yall thought Cathy was gon play fair and let a Black a&& team like the dream win it all?
Aight, I’m hiding replies and blocking anyone who brings up the free throw disparity between the Valks and Dream.
I’m tired of explaining that free throw totals don’t tell the whole story to people who refuse to think critically about officiating and its impact on the game.
Replying to @DRich2222 @WNBA
More free throws don’t automatically mean fair officiating. Missed calls let Valks players hack Angel in the paint, force tougher shots, kill scoring runs and swing possessions. Free throw totals alone don’t capture that damage or the impact refs had on the game.
Man, y’all expect Angel to overcome missed calls, biased officiating, overly physical play, AND THEE worst coach in the league. That shit directly impacts her confidence and performance. She can’t overcome everything. Stop blaming the player who gave the Dream a 2-1 lead smh.
Proud of Angel for speaking up about what we’re all seeing. Meanwhile, commentators applaud the Valkyries instead of calling out the refs like they do in the MNBA. The officiating is robbing the Atlanta Dream of a fair shot at a championship.
P.S.
Karl Smesko still sucks.
Wow! So as we knew, GSV knows that they can foul Angel and get away with it because the refs are just going to ignore it. This is disgusting. 😠 #DoItForTheDream
Replays clearly show Dream players getting hacked, yet in-game and studio commentators refuse to acknowledge it. National broadcasts should be impartial, but the bias is blatant. They’re about to hype Kiah Stokes’ fouling ass to the Finals MVP award which would be a disgrace. 🫠
The refs did, in fact, go crazy after this.
Thanks for wasting your challenge on the dumbest play possible, Karl! You could’ve used it on the VERY next play, but instead, your team was further demoralized, and you had no challenges left. Absolutely brilliant in-game management!!
