RDR2 is such a funny game to me, because while I genuinely love it in a lot of ways it's stuck being very incongruent. The game is too easy, you kill too many people, there is both too much and too little freedom and yet the actual story itself, treated independently is just so..

No, nakeyjakey is right about Rockstar's mission design being their worst flaw and this is exactly the kind of bullshit they need to do away with in GTA VI.
There's no good reason why I can't run slightly ahead of the gang and shoot the guys at the stable without a mission fail.
More freedom is great but this was never a major flaw in GTA 5 or Red Dead 1 & 2, those games offer Rockstar's best missions by far in comparison to their older games. Just because you can't run off in some random direction, does not make them not extremely fun to play.
I am glad GTA 6 is adding alternate paths to missions, and it is an improvement. But it won't suddenly make RDR2 look like a terrible game in comparison
