Shocking neglect and abuse of retired Lt Col Stephen Maguire DCM SAS, a natural born leader of men who spent 40 years in service to his country, and his son's long fight for justice. Please share Ben's post widely: "My father, Retired Lt Col Stephen Maguire DCM SAS, is a man who spent nearly 40 years in dedicated service to this country, serving from 1970 until 2009. He is a natural leader, a decorated soldier, to those who served with him. However, he has been completely abandoned and betrayed by the very system he gave everything to. I am fighting for justice for my father. This struggle is a mirror of my own life; my own journey marked by the negligence of MPs, charities, and veteran services which led me to the absolute rock bottom of homelessness as a veteran myself. I know exactly what it is like to be discarded by the people who promised to provide support. After years of fighting, we finally have a pathway toward the right care, but the damage is already done. The sheer scale of the failings along the way has crippled a man who likely only suffered from PTSD. What should have been a manageable recovery became a total collapse because of institutional incompetence. This isn't a failure of one person or one office it is a systemic rot. For too long, the UK government, regardless of which side of the fence they sit on, has played a political game with the lives of our veterans. Whether it is Labour or the Conservatives, the result is the same: service men are treated as assets when they are useful and as liabilities the moment they are broken. We are told our sacrifices are "remembered," but the reality is that once the uniform comes off, the care vanishes. We sought help for my dad, worried about PTSD and dementia resulting from his service. Through the SAS Association and Veterans’ Aid, he was referred to various healthcare facilities. Instead of professional care, he found negligence from these referrals. In the last few years alone, he has been through multiple institutions that have failed him. We've dealt with incorrect diagnoses, doctors who tried to push him out of their care because he was "too difficult," and the removal of life-saving medication that led to him being sectioned under the Mental Health Act. He was sedated and left to decline without specialist care. His PTSD was completely ignored, and his medical history was dismissed. In one instance, he was admitted to the hospital due to low sodium caused by the excessive use of anti-psychotic medication. The most infuriating part is the silence from the top. MPs have explicitly ignored this situation and failed to act for a Lt Col in 22 SAS. The "Military Covenant" is nothing more than a piece of paper used for photo opportunities while men like my father are left to rot. The system has failed. The NHS has failed. Veteran charities have failed. From the MOD passing the buck to the medical incompetence of the facilities, my father has been abandoned like thousands of others. I am posting this because we need accountability. It is not enough to simply "help" now; there must be justice for the way he was treated. My father spent four decades looking after his men and serving at the highest level for the United Kingdom; it is a national disgrace that the government failed to look after him and many like him. Do not listen to the rhetoric the government continues to push. As this is an example of what happens after 40 years of dedicated service. Please share this. We need the people in power to answer for this. We need leaders who actually lead, not politicians who just talk." facebook.com/story.php?story… bobshepherdauthor.com/2023/1…

The UK averages 159 rainy days a year and ranks fourth in Europe for rainfall volume. The last major reservoir was finished in 1992. Since 2017, the privatised water companies have sold off at least 35 reservoirs and bulk storage sites. The government have now been warned that “Day Zero” – empty reservoirs – could arrive before Christmas. We are a damp island that somehow managed to privatise the rain, sell off the storage and then act surprised when the taps run dry. The corporations took the infrastructures, paid the dividends and left us with a hosepipe ban and a warning about water rationing at Christmas. And meanwhile, successive governments let this happen while enabling enormous data centres to guzzle up huge amounts of water and energy Yet another example of the UK being turned into a corporation asset grab at the public’s expense. This is not just government negligence. It was a choice.

🚨INCREDIBLE: Two babies were trapped inside a burning home as thick smoke filled the rooms. The people who rushed to help were just 10 and 11 years old. Isiah Francis and Jeremiah Grimes were nearby when they realized young children were still inside. They called 911, but with the fire spreading, they knew they couldn’t just stand there and wait. Isiah went inside through the smoke while Jeremiah helped from outside. Even though he could barely see and was afraid of getting burned, Isiah kept searching until he found a 1-year-old boy and an 8-month-old baby and got them both out safely. Firefighters arrived shortly after and rescued two other children from the home. Isiah and Jeremiah were just kids themselves, but when two babies needed help, they acted. Their names are Isiah Francis and Jeremiah Grimes, and they both deserve recognition for what they did that day.

I’ll stipulate that Trump is an agent of Putin. Go down the checklist. 1. Destroyed the Western alliance? Putin wanted that. 2. Threatened a NATO ally over Greenland? Putin wanted that. 3. Pulled out of the intermediate nuclear pact? Putin wanted that. 4. Withdrawing 25-40,000 troops from Western Europe while Russian bellicosity is rising? Putin wanted that. 5. Russian satellites giving coordinates to Iranians killing our soldiers, and his response is “they kill us, we kill them”? What American president says that? I think he’s been compromised. The election of Donald Trump may be the greatest foreign policy success in post-Czarist Russian history.

St Crispin's Day - which means it's #Agincourt time! OTD at Azincourt in 1415, forces under Henry V scored an unexpected victory against the French, an event made ever-famous by Mr Wm. Shakespeare. Noteworthy was the rapid fire of his archers, the machine-gunners of their day.

As a former British officer who served in Afghanistan, I will not be voting for the Government’s Troubles Bill. Those men and women who served during the Troubles made split-second decisions while operating under orders and the rules of engagement, in conditions most of us cannot imagine. The legal principle governing the use of force has not changed. British soldiers in Northern Ireland back then were guided by the same principle that guided me and my colleagues in Afghanistan. However, rules and standards have shifted since then, and soldiers shouldn’t be judged retrospectively by rules that did not exist when they served. Nor should they be exposed to endless or vexatious re-litigation without new material evidence. That is neither fair nor just and could impair critical decision-making on the battlefield.

EGYPT IS CRUCIFYING A CHRISTIAN CONVERT RIGHT NOW. IN ONLY 2 DAYS !! Said Abdelrazek dared to leave Islam and follow Jesus in 2016. Today he is locked in Egypt’s 10th of Ramadan Prison… beaten, starved, denied medicine, and hung in a crucifixion position while guards and inmates laugh. They tried to rip the cross tattoo from his skin. They fabricated terrorism charges just because he wanted his ID to match his faith. His body is failing. His next hearing is October 21, 2026 and they are trying to make sure he doesn’t survive it.This is not “alleged.” This is happening. To a brother in Christ. Right now. How would you feel if this was your son… your brother… your father? Enough is enough. Demand his freedom. Pray. Speak up. #FreeSaidAbdelrazek #EndChristianPersecution #ReformEgypt #2days Suffer with those who are in prison (Hebrews 13:3). If not now… when?

Russia struck this little girl’s house with a drone the day after I took this photo. Her father and brother were killed. She only survived as she had gone to the kitchen to get water.
