Maybe some of you knew about those but it's the first time I've come across them and it blew my mind.
So we're on a beach in the Philippines and we kept seeing these egg-like green balls in the seagrass. At first I thought they were plastic because they looked kind of like plastic toy capsules.
But there were so many of them all over the beach that either some kid had lost the biggest toy collection in history, or something else was going on.
So I checked and turns out they're called "Sailor's Eyeballs" (Valonia ventricosa) and each one is a single-celled organism, one of the largest on earth. Yup, that's one cell: the "plastic" shell is its cell wall, and everything inside is made of nuclei and cell sap.
I never knew cells could get that big, I always assumed - wrongly, it turns out - that all cells were microscopic. You learn everyday!

BREAKING: Tether has frozen $971 million worth of USDT which has been linked to a suspected Binance hack.
This comes just minutes after Binance wallets saw a $2.8 billion outflow across five blockchains.
Binance has yet to comment on the situation.

Just learned that Patrick Stewart has passed away. Such a sad loss. Here he is in one of the best things ever put on television, the Star Trek episode “The Measure of a Man.” I show it to my students in Philosophy and Science Fiction every year.

I don’t understand why so few people use Grok Bot inside Blender
Same prepared NASA/JPL rover asset. Same assembly brief.
Claude Opus 5.5: 36 minutes. $24.
Grok Bot: 3 minutes. $2.
Watch 00:17. The $2 rover has its arm raised. The other still has its camera mast floating above the chassis.

China is building around 69 power semiconductor fabs (under construction, planned, or ramping) across 58 suppliers
15 are planned, 29 are under construction, and 25 are ramping up production
This is a really interesting chart.
I attended the TrendForce San Francisco roadshow yesterday, and this chart got me thinking about a lot of things.
China is now expected to localize more than half, or close to half, of most equipment categories, excluding lithography and track.
What does this mean? It means China can now expand mature node capacity far more easily than before, using equipment made domestically within China.
Mature node foundries are booming right now, right? That's thanks to the AI supercycle driving demand for PMICs, power semiconductors, and so on.
Samsung and TSMC shutting down their mature node capacity has also helped a lot.
But here's what I imagine... that China could oversupply mature foundry capacity.
Think about it. If China can be self sufficient in equipment, there's no limit to how far it can expand capacity. Then are companies like TI, with large revenue exposure to China, really safe?
I think it's time to take another look at Western mature foundry companies with a high share of China revenue.
Of course, I'm not saying sell TI right now. I'm just saying we should think about whether it makes sense to hold them for 10 years or more, like Coca Cola.
If you have a different view, please feel free to share it. I’d love to learn.
