Doing a startup requires being negative cash flow for an extended period of time 1-2 years. That spend needs to come from somewhere. Typically wealthy parents, retirement savings or a spouse.

We can’t extrapolate population trends out 30+ years using current conditions when most likely we will have reserved aging or significantly expanded lifespans by then. It’s logically incongruent to believe in both super-intelligence and current death rates remaining the same.

The AI gaming revolution continues at full speed! People are now able to play nearly any switch game natively on iOS. Many at 60FPS. All games are now super easy to static recomp and port anywhere natively. No expensive decomp step needed. And this is just the tip of the iceberg... github.com/seedds/nxnative

Goated take from the goat himself
Shigeru Miyamoto shared thoughts on generative AI and its meaning for creativity in game development. He compared AI to the evolution of computers and design tools. As technology handles more technical work, human design sense and creative judgment grow more important. Miyamoto distinguishes between “creating something” and “doing the work.” Creating starts with deciding what to make, building the overall structure, and having clear intention. The work that follows fills in details, polishes, and executes the idea. “People can become so satisfied with the work itself that they start mistaking that satisfaction for having created something good.” Miyamoto believes AI taking over repetitive work could give people more chances to focus on what they truly want to create. “The more AI takes care of all kinds of tasks for us, the more opportunities we all have to think seriously about what it really means to create something.” He acknowledges AI could eventually handle almost everything in the creative process, but for now: “I think there’s still plenty that we humans can do.”

This is so sick! Ugh wish I could host this stuff on YG with rollback, but switch games are just like:

Well said! I love it when people say exactly what I think but more eloquently written than I could’ve done.

You’re misunderstanding. Using AI mostly means moving to a higher level of abstraction in the same way that getting promoted in a company does. With AI it’s like you have a whole team or small company working for you, when before you were an individual contributor. In the same way that people that know how to lead teams of people to make useful stuff create a lot of value, someone that knows how to lead teams of AI agents to make useful stuff also creates a lot of value. Using agents largely just means getting better at system design, UI/UX design, product design, marketing, etc. Basically the same skillsets people develop when growing a startup company.

Oh FOR SURE. Most of the AI stuff people see is complete trash because they’re typically using really crappy low cost models that are basically like using 2 year old frontier models. The really good AI, you have to pay $200 a month for and almost no one outside of software developers is using them, so that’s a big part of the disconnect. People who haven’t used these $200 models don’t realize how crazy good frontier AI is yet. Literally like a lvl3 cpu vs Phillip difference At the same time, good AI code is completely hidden, people just see a great product that just works, whereas when a product doesn’t work it has a clear AI smell now. What we know in the industry though is that EVERY software product is made with AI now. Basically none of the best engineers are hand-writing code anymore. People are experiencing AI code every single day in all their best software experiences. They just don’t know it’s AI code.

The person who is most cracked with AI at a company is the last person a company will lay off. Other way around, companies have to beg cracked AI orchestrators to stay because they have too many options.

Using vibe coding as an insult is kind of like using painting as an insult. The term vibe coding was coined by Andrej Karpathy, the previous head of Tesla AI and one of the best engineers/coders on the planet, when he realized that he wasn't really hand writing code anymore and was more productive just directing many agents instead. So yes, while technically anyone can vibe code just like technically anyone can paint, that doesn't make all vibe coders or all painters the same. The skill of the person behind the brush, and the time, effort and vision put into a piece is what determines whether the output is slop or a masterpiece.

It's already been done. Medvi achieved $1B+ valuation in less than a year. In their first year they did $401M in revenue with 250k customers and $65M in net profit. One person, and later hired just his brother to help. OpenClaw is another example, it had bids for over $1B and it was made solely by Peter Steinberger. You're going to see many more 1-4 person unicorns over the next few years.

Why reinvent the wheel? Most of these tools are open source or cheap and have years of UI/UX polish. Better just to focus on the new thing you're building.

It’s not a hot take, just a bad one. The people that rave most about AI and consume the most AI tokens are the best engineers in the industry. Most of them work at Ant or OAI or some fast-growing startup and are making millions. The people getting left behind in the industry are the ones that rant about “mediocre ai code” at the same time that AI is finding new security vulnerabilities in the human written software we’ve been building on top of for decades.

The AI stance doesn't make much sense though ultimately, so I hope people grow out of it as they become more informed. Every single build uses AI code now. Mine and Sarah's are obviously more explicit, but even Brawlback's main build has now adopted 7000 lines of my "AI" rollback code, because it works and it works well. This AI purity thing is super silly. Every piece of software now including X here is using AI to code and help speed up the dev process. AI is just a tool, nothing more. Whether the output is slop or not has everything to do with the person behind the tool and not the tool itself.

Because it wasn’t. That’s the big misconception. Their menus and UX were close to done but their core rollback was not. Brawlback is near completion now because my core rollback implementation is being ported over there. What I released was open source from day 1 and my ideal situation even from day 1 was to get them to come work on top of my new implementation. I even offered the listing/ownership of the project to both whiteTPoison AND nyx, but so far they have preferred to just keep doing their own thing and porting my rollback core instead. I WANT to work together with them and for yougame to be able to host the best build. I don’t even WANT to own the build myself. It’s never been my goal to try to take over brawl/P+, but to create a great site for this kind of collaboration to take place.
