Canadian Members of Parliament (MPs) are set to receive a pay raise on April 1, 2025, based on inflation.
According to different sources, this year's raise is projected to be 3.9%.
For a simple MP, whose current salary is $203,100, this translates to an increase of approximately $7,900, bringing their new annual salary to about $211,000.
MPs in higher roles receive larger raises due to their additional allowances. Cabinet ministers, currently earning $299,900, will see an increase of around $11,700, resulting in a new salary of approximately $311,500.
The Prime Minister, with a current salary of $406,200, will receive a raise of about $15,800, bringing his total to roughly $422,000.
This is an obscene amount of money for basically doing nothing.
Raises should be merit based, not inflation driven. As it stands, MPs are insulated from their bad policies. MPs don't care if their decisions lead to higher inflation for the rest of us.
Given the bad economic situation in CAnada right now, all party leaders should commit to no raises in 2025.
The Liberals want you to feel guilty for taking the kids on a summer vacation.
"Good news kid. Enjoy your 10 hours in the car and let the planet burn".
They are deranged.
No surprise Brian Jean knows nothing about anything

Again? How many times do Albertans need to tell the foreign coal companies and our politicians NO? We don't want them using up and ruining our Ag & drinking water. We're in a multi-year drought. The whole thing feels very greasy and very corrupt to me.

.@jkenney Get this through your head and stop dog-whistling: @cafreeland is not “visiting Alberta”. Canadians do not “visit Alberta”. Alberta is one part of our amazing Canada and as Canadians we consider all provinces to be ours. We’re not visitors in Canada. #AbLeg #cdnpoli
Replying to @jkenney
@cafreeland, you know that our governments have a lot of serious disagreements. But you’re always more than welcome to come and visit us here in the province where you grew up & your family lives! As are all Canadians.
