If you've ever wondered why smart TVs are so cheap, this is why. @log4j rooted his Samsung and found an always-on hot mic, automatic content recognition, geolocation, network mapping, ad targeting and user profiling, shared with Samsung's "400 partners". A lot of it can be blocked in <15 min, wrote a basic guide below. What your TV is doing The main culprit is ACR (automatic content recognition). Your TV screenshots what's on screen, fingerprints it, and sends it home to build your ad profile. Samsung does it every 500ms, LG every 10ms [1]. What is insane: it happens on connected devices too. Plug in your laptop, your console, your work machine, and your TV can fingerprint that via HDMI [1]. He also found that if your Samsung doesn't have a mic, it'll look for one from a connected soundbar or bluetooth device. xitter.cf/log4j/status/211376224โ€ฆ It's on by default, and you likely agreed to it on the setup screen you clicked through in 10 seconds. Step 1: Turn off ACR Samsung: Terms & Privacy โ†’ Viewing Information Services LG: Live Plus Vizio: Viewing Data Roku: "Use info from TV inputs" Sony/Google TV: Samba Interactive TV Menus vary by model, but those are the names to look for. While you're in there, opt out of interest-based ads, reset your advertising ID, decline every optional privacy agreement, turn off voice recognition, and delete apps you never open. Step 2: Give smart devices their own network Put the TV, cameras, speakers and vacuum on your router's guest/IoT network. The logic is simple: these devices rarely get patched. If one gets compromised (getting drastically more frequent with AI), it shouldn't be able to see your other devices or home network. Step 3: Block trackers for the whole house with DNS-level filtering NextDNS (cloud-based) is easy and has a solid free plan. Pi-hole is a little bit more work if you prefer self hosting. For simplicity we'll focus on the former. 1. Sign up at nextdns.io (free tier is plenty) 2. Privacy tab: add a blocklist (OISD is a good bet) and turn on Native Tracking Protection for Samsung, LG, Roku, Amazon (see attached image) 3. Setup tab: copy your endpoint 4. Paste it into your router's DNS settings as DNS-over-HTTPS/TLS (or use the IPs + "Link IP" if your router only does plain DNS) 5. Bonus: block outbound port 53 except to your router. Some devices hardcode their own DNS to get around you Then open the NextDNS logs and watch how often your TV phones home. It's eye-opening. If an app or update breaks, find the domain in the logs and allowlist it. Why they do this TV prices are down 97% since 2000 [2]. Most of that is better manufacturing and brutal competition. But once margins on the hardware hit zero, the cost moved to you. In Q3 2024, Vizio lost $6.7M selling TVs and made $115.8M in gross profit from ads and viewing data [3]. They've said on earnings calls that they keep TV prices low to grow the audience they sell to advertisers. Walmart bought them in 2024. This isn't a conspiracy theory either. Vizio paid $2.2M to the FTC in 2017 for tracking 11 million TVs without consent. Last December, Texas sued Samsung, LG, Sony, Hisense and TCL over ACR. Samsung and LG have since agreed to stop collecting that data without explicit consent [4]. TL;DR 1. ACR off 2. Ads + voice off 3. Smart devices on their own network 4. NextDNS filtering on the router Sources: [1] ACR study: arxiv.org/abs/2409.06203 [2] Cost of US consumer goods: aei.org/economics/chart-of-tโ€ฆ [3] Vizio Q3 2024: sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/โ€ฆ [4] Texas v. ๐ŸšจWes Streeting only talked about how the UK needs to prepare for food shortages and cyber attacks, because I asked him when the government was going to start its national conversation on defence during a question and answer session at the opening of a gun hall. If the defence secretary hadnโ€™t given such a meaningful reply (thank you @wesstreeting), then no government minister would have spoken out publicly about this topic on the day that the Cabinet Office finally published its new advice on being ready for emergencies. This long-awaited โ€œBe Readyโ€ moment was meant to be a really important signal - launching a three year campaign to shift the whole of our society to a footing that is more resilient to any kind of shock. Instead, no government minister had been scheduled to speak publicly today specifically to launch this vital piece of work. It was just going to be a website update and a written statement to Parliament. This does not send the signal that getting the UK ready for any potential disaster - up to and including war - is a top priority for our new prime ministerโ€ฆ skynews-defence.noosphere.apโ€ฆ

They haven't even started 'researching' into becoming an L1 yet, nevermind #StarkNet transitioning to L1. Yet $STRK say (in previous posts) they'll be fully post-quantum ready by end of 2027 (13 months). When Founders lie, and set impossible targets, those are major red flags!!
The community has spoken! The results are in, with a strong majority voting Yes to starting the research into Starknet becoming an L1. A few notes: - The final results are an overwhelming 93.52% in favor. This is a clear YES. - The next step is for a working group to lead the needed research and work to make this change possible in the best path there is - @StarkWareLtd and the @StarknetFndn will be allocating significant resources to make sure this work is done in the best way possible - STRK will remain the token of the network - There are many challenges to tackle, review, research, and discuss. We will do thorough work to address all of them and we want to hear from the community - Any path to transition to an L1 will be brought to a community vote This is a huge shift and a milestone, but the AI and quantum challenges ahead require it. Letโ€™s get to work!

TO SKALE community: I stepped down as CTO and board director of SKALE Labs, the company I co-founded in 2017. I remain a member of the Council of the SKALE Foundation, and I want to explain what I am asking the Foundation to do, because I think the community should weigh in. SKALE is a protocol. It runs because of a small team of engineers who have shipped it, debugged it, and kept it live for years. They understand what is technically possible and what is not. Today none of them sits on the Foundation board. I believe that is a mistake. A protocol foundation whose board has no builders on it will make decisions about roadmaps, grants, and network economics without the people who have to make those decisions work. That is how protocols drift. The good ones, from Ethereum to Cosmos, keep engineers at the table where the long-term direction is set. My proposal is simple: expand the Foundation board by three seats, filled by people with deep software and protocol engineering backgrounds. I have put this proposal to the Foundation formally. I will share what I am able to share as it proceeds. What I am asking of you today is only this: if you agree that the people who build SKALE should help govern it, say so publicly. Validators, delegators, dApp teams, and token holders are who the Foundation exists to serve, and your voice matters to the outcome. In the meanytime I am going to keep building SKALE.

๐Ÿงต 2.7M+ post-quantum transactions are only part of @Algorandโ€™s story. Native PQ accounts. Wallet upgrades without moving assets. AI-agent payments. User-controlled authorization. Hereโ€™s what is liveโ€”and what comes next. ๐Ÿ‘‡ @Algorand reports 2.7M+ PQ transactions on mainnet, ahead of QRLโ€™s 2.5M in its published comparison. First by that reported transaction count. Behind the milestone is a progression from State Proofs to native account signing. 2022: Falcon-secured State Proofs brought PQ cryptography to blockchain-state attestations. 2025: Falcon verification in the AVM enabled PQ transactions through LogicSig accounts. August 2026: Native Falcon-1024 accounts and related tooling went live. Native PQ accounts can hold ALGO and other assets, send transactions and interact with applications. Existing accounts can adopt PQ signing through rekeying: โ†’ Same public address โ†’ Same assets โ†’ Same transaction history The signing authority changes. That migration path matters. Users can upgrade authorization while retaining the address connected to their apps, contacts and payment workflows. Algorand 5.0 also introduces a flexible signature framework designed to accommodate additional cryptographic schemes. Developers received more room to build. Algorand 5.0 doubles maximum application code size from 8 KB to 16 KB. Updatable applications can expand code capacity and global state, helping existing products grow without starting over. Now add agentic commerce. Algorand supports x402 payments for APIs, data and services. @GoPlausible provides SDKs, examples, a facilitator and integration toolingโ€”including an AP2โ€“x402 extension for A2A. Payment authorization meets execution. AC2 adds user-controlled authorization. The @AlgoFoundationโ€˜s Agentic Communication and Control Protocol lets agents request signatures while private keys remain under user control. Request โ†’ Approve โ†’ Execute. AC2โ€™s documented use cases extend beyond payments: โ†’ Code deployments โ†’ API access โ†’ Client communications โ†’ x402 payments The open specification, reference wallet and plugin are available. The protocol is blockchain-agnostic. These layers address different security needs: AC2 โ†’ authorization and key separation. PQ signatures โ†’ resistance to quantum attacks. Together, they illustrate why agent infrastructure needs both controlled permissions and strong signing mechanisms. Practical payment pilots add another dimension. The Foundation reported a German Federal Foreign Office and @PoliSync pilot using @HesabPay_ on Algorand for aid payments to Syria. Reported results: up to 73% lower fees and settlement in under two hours. Next on the published PQ roadmap: โ†’ Native Falcon-512 โ†’ PQ multisig โ†’ Hybrid signing approaches Falcon-512 and PQ multisig are targeted for the end of 2026, expanding options for accounts, institutional operations and treasury approvals. Hardware is being explored, too. Algorand demonstrated Falcon-1024 key generation and signing on a Trezor Safe 5 proof of concept. Reported signing time: approximately 0.7 seconds. Bringing this into supported products requires manufacturer collaboration. The remaining work reaches into consensus. Research covers a PQ-resistant VRF for committee selection and PQ signatures for consensus messages. A hybrid Ed25519 + Falcon approach is under consideration. Broad quantum resilience remains the target for end-2027. AC2โ€™s next planned step is bounded delegation. Its launch design requests approval for each signature. The planned evolution lets users define limits once, with agents acting inside those bounds and returning for approval beyond them. Thatโ€™s the bigger picture: PQ technology already deployed. Existing accounts able to migrate. More capable applications. Agent-payment tooling. User-controlled authorization. Further consensus and hardware work ahead. @Algorand is building across the layers that make these systems usable.
Algorand is now officially #1 in post-quantum across the entire industry ๐Ÿฅ‡ Over 2.7 MILLION post-quantum transactions on mainnet, more than any other blockchain on the planet. Others are still talking about the quantum threat. We've been shipping since 2022, and nobody has caught us.
