@iotex_io first on-chain voter-reward distribution is made directly by the protocol.
Zanzibar mainnet update has been activated! $IOTX
Tomorrow:
$IOTX: First Reward Distribution (impact 5/10)
Event details: coinmarketcal.com/event/firs…
IIP-59 is live, so we visualized it.
Every dot in this video is a real staking reward payment on the IoTeX L1, replayed block by block from on-chain data. Nothing is simulated.
Since the Zanzibar upgrade, the protocol has paid 432,542 IOTX to 13,846 voters across 46 delegates, in 34,485 payments.
No claims. No manual payouts.
✅ Zanzibar is officially live on the IoTeX mainnet!
The headline: Staking rewards are now paid directly by the protocol.
Thanks to IIP-59, voter rewards are computed and distributed on-chain every reward era. No off-chain services, no middlemen. Every payout is fully verifiable by anyone, directly from the chain. The first on-chain distribution lands tomorrow. 🗓️
Zanzibar also hardens our consensus ahead of BLS signature aggregation via proof-of-possession checks on delegate keys.
A massive thank you to all the delegates and node operators who upgraded on time. 🙏
Less trust. More verification.

⏰ 6 days to Zanzibar.
The Zanzibar hard fork activates on IoTeX mainnet at block 53,533,081 (est. Oct 19, 02:00 UTC).
Delegates & node operators: upgrade to iotex-core v2.5.1 now.
→ Just swap the image: iotex/iotex-core:v2.5.1
→ No config changes. No resync.
→ Nodes still on v2.4.x will fall out of consensus at activation.
Most of the network has already upgraded. Let's get to 100% before the fork.

IoTeX is cleaning up the foundation for an open intelligence network connecting models, Macs, machines, and agents.
Native IOTX powers the gas, staking, and settlement layer. One supply. One network. A much bigger machine economy ahead $IOTX
$IOTX is coming home.
IOTX launched in 2018 as an ERC-20 on Ethereum. A year later IoTeX mainnet went live, and native IOTX took over the real work: paying for gas, securing the network through staking, and settling everything on IoTeX L1.
But the 2018 contract never fully went away, leaving IOTX split across two forms. Today we start consolidating it.
Introducing the IOTX Redemption Portal:
→ hub.iotex.io/redeem
→ Legacy ERC-20 IOTX in, native IOTX out
→ 1:1, zero fees
→ Connect, send, sign. Native IOTX lands at the same address.
The world's biggest platforms are already there. @Revolut, Europe's largest fintech with 70M+ customers worldwide, now supports native IOTX. So does @BitkubOfficial, Thailand's largest licensed exchange. They join Binance, Upbit, Bithumb, Kraken, Crypto.com and more, which already support native IOTX.
Why now? The internet connected computers. We're connecting intelligence: the models, Macs, machines and agents now running everywhere, on an open, verifiable network.
IOTX is at the core of that network. And it starts with one clean supply.

IIP-64: how IoTeX stays secure as it decentralizes, in a post-quantum, post-AI world.
This is an open proposal, not a done deal. It will go through public review, revisions, and a governance vote. We're sharing it early because this is not just an IoTeX problem. Every blockchain has to solve it.
Today, nearly every chain signs with ECDSA. It can fall two ways:
• Quantum: Shor's algorithm on a large enough quantum computer
• AI-accelerated math: a classical breakthrough that shows up as a paper, with no hardware warning
The second scenario is no longer far-fetched as AI may compress decades of math progress into a few years, and the structured math behind some "post-quantum" schemes could be the first to give.
The design: two locks, not one
• IIP-64 uses two NIST-standardized post-quantum signature families. Each is strong where the other is exposed:
• Hash-based (SLH-DSA, FIPS 205 / XMSS): security rests only on hash functions. No algebraic structure, so there is very little for an AI-discovered shortcut to grab onto. Very conservative, but large (~16 KB per signature).
• Lattice-based (ML-DSA, FIPS 204): compact and fast, the mainstream post-quantum standard. But it has algebraic structure, the kind of thing a mathematical breakthrough could weaken.
Why this matters more as we decentralize
More delegates means more signatures per block, and post-quantum signatures are 10–100x larger than ECDSA. So IIP-64 also specifies STARK-based signature aggregation, so the chain can grow its validator set without drowning in signature data.
A different philosophy from Ethereum
Ethereum's execution layer leans on account abstraction: every account can bring its own signature scheme. That's flexible, but it pushes a hard cryptographic choice onto every user and wallet.
IIP-64 makes the choice at the protocol level: a small, vetted menu, with a hybrid required where the stakes are highest. Plus a defined crypto-agility process, so if cryptanalysis moves, the protocol can rotate parameters or entire families without another address migration.
Also in the proposal
• Phased migration: bind PQ keys → require both → retire legacy
• Acceleration triggers for both quantum milestones and AI/classical breaks
• Recovery staged before a break: prove ownership now, use it later
We'd love cryptographers, researchers and other chains to review it, challenge it, and break it. Comments on the PR are open 👇

Are BTC/ETH keys or BLS/KZG signatures actually at risk from recent AI math breakthroughs?
The short answer: Not yet.
Adding the technical analysis behind this discussion below. The October 7 snapshot of @OpenAI math results contains 722 manuscripts across 372 result families. We conducted a focused review of 8 selected families (10 manuscripts), not an exhaustive audit. Assuming their stated theorems hold, here is what they claim and what follows for cryptography:
• #142 + #029: deterministic polynomial-time factoring of polynomials over prime fields, relying on #029’s uniform Hecke zero-free theorem. This is not RSA integer factoring. Randomized polynomial factoring was already efficient; no new reduction of secp256k1 key recovery or RSA factoring to this task is supplied.
• #107: dense matrix-multiplication bounds improve, including finite-field results. The headline is ω ≤ 2.25 over ℂ; separate bounds give ω < 2.371055 over every fixed field. But NFS/TNFS uses sparse linear algebra modulo subgroup order r: roughly w·N² field operations for an N×N system with average row weight w. Applicability, sparse-solve gains and competitive finite-size costs remain to be established. No cheaper complete BLS/KZG attack is demonstrated by these results.
• #103: among polynomial-time deterministic simulations, workspace improves from O(log² n) to O(log n). A major space-complexity result—but no polynomial-time randomized log-space solver for the cryptographic target is supplied. Such a solver would itself already be a polynomial-time attack.
• #279: exact quantum integer factoring over a fixed finite gate set. Stronger ideal-circuit guarantees, without demonstrated practical resource savings or a new classical attack. Shor already provides quantum factoring and discrete-log algorithms; this result does not establish a cheaper ECC attack.
• #109: an asymptotic integer-multiplication improvement, with no demonstrated speed gain at cryptographic sizes. The construction has enormous constants and thresholds, with schoolbook multiplication below its cutoff.
• #002 / #030: our abstract/main-theorem review found global elliptic-curve arithmetic advances, without an effective algorithm extracting the finite-group secret d from Q = dG.
What this means for Bitcoin and Ethereum: The reviewed manuscripts do not provide a practical way to recover a wallet’s private key from its public key. If such a method were found for secp256k1—the curve used by Bitcoin and Ethereum accounts—an attacker could forge ECDSA and Schnorr signatures and potentially spend funds wherever the exposed key and wallet’s spending rules allow. This includes Bitcoin’s Taproot signatures.
Could they undermine Ethereum’s validators or data verification? Ethereum’s validator signatures (BLS) and blob commitments (KZG) use the same curve, BLS12-381. A practical attack that recovers secrets in the relevant groups could therefore threaten both: impersonating validators and producing false blob proofs that pass verification. There is also a narrower route: recovering KZG’s secret setup value, τ, would enable false proofs under that setup, without recovering validator keys. The reviewed results demonstrate neither attack; any network-level consequences would depend on the attack’s scope and the protocol.
How much cheaper have these results made an attack? We found no demonstrated reduction in the total work needed to break these targets. For secp256k1, a representative generic classical attack takes roughly 2^128 group operations. None of the reviewed results establishes a reduction to 2^100 or 2^80—or another lower end-to-end estimate. Some results improve theoretical guarantees or asymptotic bounds, but none of the reviewed results demonstrates a cheaper complete attack on these targets. BLS and KZG require separate, attack-specific estimates.
This is a statement about the evidence available, not a prediction of how soon a break could happen.

🛠️ We welcome feedback from cryptographers (github.com/raullenchai/ai-ma…), e.g., have we missed a concrete way to turn these results into a cheaper attack? Could #142’s internal tools help recover keys in a deployed group, or could #107 reduce the total cost of attacking BLS or KZG?
We agree with @VitalikButerin: don't scramble, but take it seriously. A view from our cryptography team:
What changed this week isn't a broken curve. Nobody has shown an attack on ECDSA. What changed is the planning assumption. We used to ask "when will quantum computers arrive?" Now we also have to ask "how fast will AI move the math?"
Fortunately, IoTeX has been working on this since May. IIP-64, our post-AI post-quantum migration proposal, already includes hash-based (SLH-DSA) signatures, an algorithm-agile precompile and key registry, and zero-knowledge migration proofs for accounts whose keys are still hidden.
An update and potentially a vote on this IIP are coming shortly.
Open, verifiable systems are only as strong as the math under them. 👇
An early glimpse of something we've been working toward.
Local AI on a Mac has always served one person, its owner. With Share Compute, @rapidmlx and @qspro_ai are testing whether that same Mac can serve real API traffic for others.
First numbers look promising: a Mac mini (M4 Pro) runs Qwen3.8-27B at 40+ tokens/s, versus 50+ in the cloud.
It's very early, just internal testing for now. But it points at the open, verifiable intelligence network we want to build: intelligence served from wherever it runs, by anyone who has something to bring.
Got a Mac with 48GB+? DM @qspro_ai if you'd like to help test. 👇
👀 Sneak Peek: Turn your idle Mac into an earning machine.
We're teaming up with @rapidmlx to plug Share Compute into QuickSilver Pro, letting home Macs serve real API traffic.
Early numbers are wild: A Mac mini (M4 Pro) runs Qwen3.8-27B at 41 tokens/s (vs 54 in the cloud). 🔥
Internal testing is underway. Got a Mac with 48GB+? DM us to get in early.
