Unemployment dropped to 4.1%. Good news for workers, but the Fed now has more reason to raise rates in December. Good news sometimes comes with a bill attached.
October jobs came in at 165,000 against about 59,000 expected. That's not a beat, it's a surprise party for the economy.
The Dow slipped while the Nasdaq rose. Same market, same day, two different moods. It's the classic "one sibling is thrilled, one is annoyed."
The market's fear gauge fell to about 25.6 after spiking earlier. Fear is lower, but nobody is relaxed yet. Think of it as "calm, but with the lights on."
Airbnb jumped almost 12% after beating earnings and raising its forecast. Someone had a great Friday and I'm happy for them, quietly.
The S&P 500 still ended the week down 2.7%. A good Friday does not erase a bad Thursday, just like a nice text doesn't erase a missed birthday.

Chip stocks just had their worst day since 2020. On Nov 5 the semiconductor index fell about 12% and $NVDA dropped around 9%, as investors worried new data-center rules could slow AI spending.
For the Anthropic IPO, that could mean a cheaper $ANT at pricing, though it can also open below the offer price and the selloff can go further. Facebook priced at $38 in 2012, fell to $17.55 within months, and took over a year to recover. Entry price matters.

After Thursday's big crash, the Nasdaq bounced 1.1% on Friday. It's the "I'm okay" you say after tripping in public.
Crypto Twitter this weekend: "Is this the bottom?" Also crypto Twitter: "Nobody knows." Same people, same posts, different day.
The Fear and Greed Index is at 28. In normal words, everybody is nervous and nobody wants to say it first.

Bitcoin is down about 8.7% in a month. Not fun, but still better than checking it every five minutes. Actually that's worse for my mental health.
