Number 10 on the list of questions parents find hardest to answer: "Why is the moon sometimes out in the day?" So we built the answer for a 7-year-old: turn the Earth, look up through the explorer's eyes, then follow the light from the Sun to the Moon to your eyes.

The open-source Marble curriculum now covers Australia 🇦🇺 All 593 Australian primary standards across 7 subjects, mapped into the same knowledge graph we built for the the US and UK. 62% of what Australian kids learn is aligned with the US or UK. The rest is a lot more Australian and involves how communities protect themselves from bushfires, floods, droughts and cyclones. Which country should we add next? 👇

Two weeks in: 2,858 people have opened the Marble Index and run thousands of searches. Most looked up this week: Bluey Minecraft Kerbal Space Program Kerbal at #3 surprised me. It's the top score of all 563 titles.

How an experiment looks is one part of the job. The bigger part is whether a kid walks away understanding the idea. That's a whole science. We carefully look a lot of teaching research: what kids usually get wrong about a concept, which picture helps, when to let them try alone.

Before the experiments we shared, we explored a lot. One of our preliminary visual tries: a pop-up book like the ones I grew up with, where a shadow tells the time in Egypt. Every fold and shadow is code: three.js, 48 light samples a frame, 2-bone IK on the lamp. Looks are one part of it. Most of our time goes into teaching research: how kids learn each idea best.
Following the fantastic reaction to our interactive learning experiments, we’ve decided to create an open source skill for anyone to build their own 💪🏗️ It's called the Marble-Builder. You tell it your child’s age and what they’re curious about and it builds a playable experiment for them. What’s built into the skill: - 1,837 concepts kids learn through primary school, and the 3,853 links between them - 1,049 teaching research records on how kids learn best - It agrees a plan with you, then builds, tests and fixes the experiment itself You stay in control and can adjust everything. AI is a tool with huge potential to make teaching even better for both parents and teachers. We want anyone with something to teach to be able to bring it to life in an interactive, personalized way. It’s a first prototype so there is a lot to improve. One big next step is to make the experiments more beautiful visually. Parents, teachers, homeschoolers: show us what you make. We’ll gather the best experiences into the first open, interactive encyclopedia for kids. Incredibly exciting times for kids education. Links to try it below 👇

AI in education is my fav application
In July we open-sourced a dynamic graph of everything a child learns in primary school. 1,590 concepts, 3,221 dependencies. Now we’re turning every concept into interactive experiments kids can play and learn from. First one, age 7: heat and water. Everything that used to be a boring textbook can now be an engaging experience, potentially tailored to every child. Kids education just got a massive upgrade.

How a score works: we answer 20 questions about the title (ads? streaks? strangers? does it make kids think?), each backed by a concrete fact. People vote on every score, and the most disputed ones go to expert review first. Score any title: marbleindex.org

No video editor touched this one. Claude Code wrote a web page that draws the video one frame at a time, and headless Chrome filmed it. How it works ↓

Then headless Chrome renders the 705 frames and ffmpeg stitches them into an mp4. No timeline, no keyframes.

What I like about doing it this way: the next video is another dot on the same map. Same code, different concept. There are 1,590 of them.
