"It was on our second date in the summer of 2020 that I heard Meghan say the word “sarcoma” for the first time. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of watching her navigate treatment, ring the bell toward healing, celebrate career promotions, and continue to show the same resilience she has carried throughout her 10-year journey with fibromyxoid sarcoma on the dura of her brain. As an asthmatic and someone who never considered myself the greatest athlete, when you watch someone you love fight so courageously, you decide you’d run to the end of the world for them. I have run over 500 miles and completed five half marathons in support of those and their families dealing with cancer, especially those who find themselves as the 1% of the 1%. Meg has been there for me at the finish line of every race I’ve run and this summer, I got to wait for her at the finish line down the aisle as we became husband and wife. The money raised on behalf of the Sarcoma Foundation of America will help strengthen and lengthen lives, and that’s why I’ll continue to lace up. Meg, you’re my hero." - Shaun Nerney, RTCS New Jersey #Sarcoma #CureSarcoma #RTCS #RTCSNewJersey

Sarcoma is not one disease. It includes many subtypes, each with its own characteristics, treatment considerations, and research needs. Each month, we’ll highlight a different subtype, exploring who it affects, signs and symptoms, diagnosis and treatment, research, and more. We’re kicking things off with Ewing sarcoma.
