Maldives Customs Service

🇲🇻 WCO supports the Maldives Customs Service in Advancing its Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Programme Less friction at the border = more fuel for the economy: AEO programmes help trusted businesses trade faster and cut costs, while enabling Customs to better focus resources. The WCO, through the #AccelerateTradeFacilitation Programme, funded by UK’s HMRC, supported the Maldives Customs Service in taking steps to strengthen and expand its AEO Programme. Building on previous WCO support, the five-day mission focused on finalizing its AEO Manual and strengthening the skills needed for its effective implementation. The mission also looked to the future – exploring how the AEO Programme can reach more businesses, deliver greater benefits for trusted traders and strengthen cooperation across government. These developments will make legitimate trade faster, simpler and more predictable for a wider range of economic operators, supporting businesses to move goods more efficiently and access global markets more quickly. The mission concluded with clear priorities for the continued development of a strong and sustainable AEO Programme, supporting secure borders, greater trade facilitation and opportunities for the Maldivian economy. 📸Photo courtesy of @CustomsMv @CustomsMv #AEO #TradeFacilitation #Customs #CapacityBuilding @HMRCgovuk
