The 2012 USPTF recommendations about active surveillance for prostate cancer have resulted in poorer survival. NCCN is changing it's recommendations for low risk prostate cancer from "active surveillance preferred" to "active surveillance, surgery, and radiation are equivalent".

QOL after SBRT for prostate cancer is great compared to ACTIVE SURVEILLANCE and is no worse than IMRT (perhaps better).
Continuing my efforts to improve tx results for men with recurrent prostate ca after prostatectomy. Using C-11 acetate PET to identify the sites of recurrence and delivering a SIB to them while treating the surgical bed using VMAT with no side effects, rapid ablation of PSA.
Headline: More High-Risk Prostate Cancer Now In the US Than Before (the USPSTF 2012 recommendations). This was predicted. Cancer is cancer. If you don’t screen and catch it early it can much more difficult to cure. Bottom line: screening for prostate cancer is a good idea.
Will be treating patients on the new Varian LINAC in Greenville MS on 11/13. Expert care now complimented by a giant leap in technology.
