John Daly’s Murder Rock Golf Club roared to life in 2007 in Hollister, MO—a bold, Ozarks-tough course named for local legends of outlaws and ambush.
We at Stonemark Designs were proud to craft custom tee markers and signage for it, blending our signature Cast Stained Glass with natural stone to match its rugged vibe. Our golf signage—think durable tee signs, directional markers, and those standout tee markers—aims to elevate courses with low-maintenance, eye-catching style that lasts decades.
Sadly, Murder Rock’s run was short. In 2013, Johnny Morris, Bass Pro Shops founder, bought it, shutting down Daly’s vision. By 2015, the 18 holes were split and reborn under Big Cedar Lodge: half became Buffalo Ridge Valley, retooled into a refreshed layout, and the other half transformed into Payne’s Valley, Tiger Woods’ 18-hole gem opened in 2019.
Though Murder Rock faded, our tee markers were part of its brief, wild story—proof that great signage can leave a mark, even if the course doesn’t last."

We’re a mom and pop golf brand.
We know we’re up against the biggest companies in the game when we’re working with golf shops.
Every detail matters.
We got a batch of gear back from the embroiderer last week and have not loved how they look loose in a box.
It’s a little thing, but it’s been eating at us.
I have been terrible at folding shirts and getting them in a bag, so last night we got creative.
This doesn’t scale, but we’re doing it anyways. That first impression is so important.
I think these turned out awesome.
Can’t wait to get them in the golf shop.
