🗻A couple of questions for you all? When we were up sorting sheep the other week, i took this video from a point down the side of the reservoir. In this you can see the front of some huge areas of land. This land goes for 1000s of acres unfenced. The area on the left/behind me for the video is around 2000ac on its own. In total the unfenced heafts that we class as this area could be around 10,000ac. In total the area is much much more. We hear so much about uplands been overstocked with sheep. They are ruining the landscape etc. For context, we graze 1000 breeding ewes, plus lambs and followers on our farm at home while also growing crops for feeding 1000 fattening cattle. (500ac) but obviously the hill ground is nowhere near as productive. How many sheep do you thing graze all these heafts? 🐑 AND How many would you class as too many? 🐏

Why is it important to stop this estate from breaking up and being purchased by the people that live on it and work it? Why is it important to 'protect' the last vestiges of feudal landownership from being bought by local tenants and farmers? And from a Labour Government 😔
The government is funding one of England's biggest land purchases for nature. £1.94 million to secure the future of The Rothbury Estate in Northumberland. @WildlifeTrusts will manage the estate for nature recovery. Learn more: wildlifetrusts.org/news/uk-g…

Government decides to buy land direct, to assist Wildlife Trusts to launder Biodiversity and Carbon They could have allowed the organic breakup of an aristocratic estate to provide a once in 500 year chance and give community/tenants actual ownership of their land. But no 😔
Delighted to confirm this Government has stepped in to secure the future of The Rothbury Estate as part of the campaign to protect it for future generations. This will be one of the biggest ever land purchases for nature in England👇

Replying to @OliFletcher
So, the Wildlife Trusts get the first nibble at selling BNG credits (and the complexity of the scheme hinders anyone else’s progress), but in the meantime the Government buy land for the Wildlife Trusts to sell as BNG credits (the Chance card for property development Monopoly). I’m not sure I can make that make sense 😵‍💫

An Established 'patriotic' Church tied to a right wing political doctrine Holy shit, these grifters get more batshit authoritarian with every hour that passes
We need an unapologetically patriotic national Church, rooted in the Bible and confident in promoting our Christian heritage. Not a taxpayer-subsidised pulpit for Marxist ideology, Net Zero dogma and fashionable political causes. Less ideology. More Christianity. dailysceptic.org/2026/10/24/…

Sorry but is this elected Reform Senedd Member saying that they don’t like going to church because they tell them, in effect, to be nice to other people? Or am I missing something?
That’s quite some leap. You’ve put two and two together and somehow got eight. By “we”, I mean Christians who care about the direction of our national Church. Living in Wales doesn’t disqualify me from having a view on the Church of England. And if you want my view on the Church in Wales, I’m sick to the back teeth of going to church and hearing about gender ideology, migration and the progressive political cause of the day. I go to church for Christianity, not political activism. So spare me the lecture.

Deform Plc are going after the Church for not being right wing enough now, and demanding a 'patriotic' established religion 🧐 Conveniently 'forgetting' that there is no established Church in Wales, and mixing 'patriotism' and established religion has a rather worrying pedigree

Did you call past administrations a 'minority government' when they were Labour run Jo?! You also realise that the preferred undergrounding technology is made&operated by a firm from Carmarthenshire, yes? Whereas Wales doesn't have a steel industry any more?
So the Plaid minority government won’t support key investment, new job creation, more renewable energy and cheaper electricity bills for people in Wales. Fewer jobs, more expensive bills. Stupid, self-defeating and selfish. Economic self-harm personified.

My dear Stephen, How lovely to see you marking the sixtieth. One of the darkest days in our history, etched in the memory of the nation, a community of such strength. All true. And all of it happening to somebody else. Here is the part your tribute left in the drawer. The tribunal found the Coal Board wholly to blame and said the disaster "could and should have been prevented". The Coal Board then demanded £250,000 from the disaster fund to clear the tip that killed them. The fund, raised by public donation for the families, handed over £150,000. Your party's government applied the pressure, in secret. George Thomas objected, then folded, and leaned on the trustees until they folded too. The Charity Commission sat on its hands. Nobody was prosecuted. It took thirty years to give it back. In July 1997 Ron Davies, your party's first Welsh Secretary of that spell, returned the £150,000 without interest and without inflation, and conceded the demand should never have been made. So yes. Remembering is lovely. Your lot billed the bereaved for clearing the mine's own tip. Twenty three likes. Five retweets. And looking more like your father every year. Do carry on, pet.
Today marks 60 years since the Aberfan Disaster, one of the darkest days in our history.   The tragedy, which cut short so many lives, remains etched in the memory of our nation. We remember the 144 who died and pay tribute to a community of such strength and resilience.

I grew up near Aberfan, I remember the disaster as if it were yesterday. My grandfather dug the coal that produced the waste that fell on the school. If the lesson of Aberfan is anything it is that the British Establishment will always put profit before people

'From the people, for the people' is not the sort of National Constabulary that Deform Plc want to see They'd prefer a stern-faced militaristic Force getting obedience through fear Hardly surprising, but adds to a building picture of where their social inspiration comes from
The video I shared earlier has certainly divided opinion. Many agreed with me. Many strongly disagreed. I've been called miserable, among plenty of other things. Others agreed that the behaviour was highly unprofessional and not a good look for British policing. I stand by every word of my original post, i don't think police officers should be behaving like this in public. It looks woke, undisciplined and completely unprofessional. Call me miserable all you like. I expect better from British policing.

But but... Welsh Medium education... Bad... Pointless language... They can all speak English... Bah... Something something...
What’s it like being a European? Well, here’s a Welsh speaker happily doing an interview in English which she then translates live into French for a Basque who just conversed with an Italian referee for 80 minutes in English but is happy to be spoken to in his language by a person who is speaking her second language oh and also she can speak Spanish too Being a European is wonderful

"Even a broken clock..." Considering his attitude & interjections when he actually lived here, the 'colonial' accusation is rather rich coming from this character But credit where it's due, at least he said what's obvious to us who actually live here, on a UK-wide broadcast.
Clywch Clywch!!!!! Unionists have always held Cymru back. #bbcqt

The truth is we don’t remotely care as a country… this stuff isn’t even taken seriously by senior politicians The funding Rachel Reeves cut for farmers? That was largely for nature restoration Instead they pretended it was farm subsidies Bad mouthed us And took loads away
‘Shocking and sobering’: UK bird populations fall to lowest level on record Nearly half of species are in decline, with farmland birds and seabirds the worst hit, conservation bodies say 🐦 theguardian.com/environment/…

He's on a roll (and the sauce?) today Revisiting past highlights, from 'Britons don't eat sheepmeat' (😬), to 'Shepherds don't exist, and neglect their sheep' (😵‍💫) Ex DEFRA Board member also 'forgets' all but a small % of Halal slaughter is in fact stunned as normal (🤔🧐)
I wrote a piece on why upland sheep farming sucks not just for people and nature, but for the sheep themselves. I forgot to mention in the article how most of the lambs which do survive the bleakness of the hillside (~75%) end up bled to death in halal slaughterhouses. Pretty grim all round, frankly. bengoldsmith.substack.com/p/…

Ben didn't go to university He went into finance, where he just gambled with other people's money based on... Vibes It shows
I found another big reason for restoring our native carnivores –in particular wolves – to Britain. Wolves are shown to reduce substantially the prevalence of tuberculosis (TB) in both wild animals and livestock. It’s obvious that for farmers growing crops, vegetables, vines and so on, wolves are a true friend, because wolves patrol the fields and control the number and movement of deer and wild boar that otherwise decimate their crops. Now it seems that wolves are also the livestock farmers’ best friend as well. Northern Spain, which has wolves, has massively lower prevalence of livestock TB than the rest of Spain, where wolves have been eradicated. A peer-reviewed study shows why: Tanner et al. 2019 (Scientific Reports)- “Wolves contribute to disease control in a multi-host system.” nature.com/articles/s41598-0… In Asturias (NW Spain), areas with wolves showed a sharp drop in wild boar TB seroprevalence (from ~17% to ~4%) as wolf numbers rose during 2000–2014, while boar density stayed similar or rose slightly (predation mortality offset by lower disease mortality). In wolf-absent parts of the same region, boar density roughly tripled and TB prevalence soared, with higher environmental pathogen load and rising cattle TB. Modelling showed that wolves selectively target infected animals, which is the key to this effect. This matches the broader pattern in Spain: the north (wolves present) has low livestock TB; the south (wolves absent) has high wildlife TB (wild boar often 40–80%+, red deer high) and the highest livestock prevalences (e.g. Ciudad Real, Jaén >10%).” While wolves are not claimed as the sole national driver of the huge discrepancy in TB prevalence between north and south (wildlife densities from hunting management, extensive farming interfaces, climate, cattle movements and residual infection are also major factors), the paper provides clear evidence that it’s a major one. The study there confirms that the presence of wolves *substantially* reduces TB in the wildlife reservoir and therefore the spillover effect on livestock. Another great reason to bring back wolves! TB affected farmers really ought to join up with their arable peers and get on board! 🐺

Oh dear lord! Even most wolf experts think this is a load of nonsense Ben can't have the plebs managing deer, certainly not eating venison (reserved for the rich) No, apparently we need to fill a human &infrastructure packed island with inbred and increasingly mangy wolves 🤦
The only answer to the surging overpopulation of deer in Britain is wolves. In northern Spain, just ~0.3% of deer have TB. In southern Spain it’s ~30%. The difference is that the north still has wolves. Wolves sniff out unwell deer and eat them. It’s so blindingly obvious.
