Congratulations to Dr. Bourne (@TheBourneImmuno) my younger big brother for an incredible thesis today! You’re truly an inspirational person in and out of the lab. A phenomenal scientist, dedicated DEI activist, and a monster of a cyclist! UPenn is incredibly lucky to have you!

Excited to share my work from @DASLab_MSKCC lab out today in @nchembio where we develop CAR-T cells that produce small molecule drugs at the tumor site. This is an exciting step forward in the utilization of engineered cells for drug delivery! nature.com/articles/s41589-0…

Stay tuned! This is a massive collaboration across multiple labs and disciplines at @sloan_kettering @WeillCornellGS @WeillCornell !!

One critique of this platform that uses bacterial enzymes is that host immune responses will reject it. In my thesis work, I adapt this project in fully immunocompetent mouse models. We've had very promising efficacy results so far!

In our @DASLab_MSKCC paper we demonstrate that T cells can be engineered to release small molecule chemotherapies at the tumor site. We do this using bacterial enzymes. In the current paper, we use immunodeficient mouse models as a human proof of concept.

Woohoo! My co-first author paper is finally in press! The other co-first author is a Black woman surgeon. I felt extremely honored when Angel asked me to help finish the project after her year in the @DASLab_MSKCC. A brief thread on the findings follows:
Our paper on the immunopeptidome of CDK4/6 inhibitor treated breast cancer cells is out now! Congratulations to Angel Charles, @TheBourneImmuno and @MgKlatt and all others who helped bring this project to fruition!

Are you an underrepresented scientist from NYC? Do you want to combat vaccine hesitancy and increase uptake in Black and Brown communities in NYC?
@UshmaNeill , @AbrahamAragones and I are doing an outreach campaign to local NYC schools about vaccines! We need volunteers! See 👇🏾
