You wake up and pick up your phone. The group chat is already going off! “Gameday boys!” “Den at 12?” “Score predictions?” The same people, the same location. It’s the bus ride or walk to the stadium. It’s that feeling that you only get on match day. Yeah, that one. You grab the top. The scarf. The hat. Off down the Vale where the roar of the stadium greets you as you click through the turnstiles. Every click a memory, new and old, as the hope grips you. Every week Saturday at 3pm it’s part of the routine now. Apart from Fridays, but they are just Saturdays repackaged. 90 minutes to escape the week and support the team you love. Leaning forward in your chair waiting for the perfect tackle, shot or goal to go in your favour. It’s a collection of all the small moments, waiting for that big moment. It’s the moment the ball makes the net bulge and Carnaval de Paris blares over the tannoy, it’s a sound you have became familiar with. What minute is it coming? It’s the unknown, the confidence or the fear. 3 points, 1 point or nothing but that’s what it’s all about. It wouldn’t be the game we all know and love. Win, lose or draw, we keep coming back for more. Why? You know why. You also aren’t alone, it’s you and your friends, your family and everyone in the stands united as one. You started as strangers, but now you’re mates. This club brings us together. It’s the same people, same location, same goal song and yet it’s new memories that can last forever.
